The Secondary Education program prepares students to work in grades 7-12. Graduates of the Secondary Education program earn a Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S. Ed.) with certification in one subject area (listed below). Supplemental certification may be added in English as a Second Language.

The Special Education major prepares candidates to teach students to teach students with exceptional learning needs, from early childhood through 12th grade. Field experiences focus on students with varying levels of disability, ranging from mild to severe. The Special Education major offers two different undergraduate certificate options.

The first is an All-Level Special Education degree plan which prepares participants to only teach students with exceptional learning needs. These students range from early childhood through 12th grade.

The Special Education Supplemental plan prepares participants to teach general education to students ranging from early childhood through sixth grade. The second plan also prepares participants to teach students with exceptional learning needs. These students spend the majority of the school day in a general classroom.

The Middle Grades Education Program is ideal for students who are eager to work with growing minds and daily changes. When teaching middle grades students, who are discovering who they are and what they want to do with their lives, there is rarely a dull moment in the classroom. The program prepares highly qualified teachers that will earn a Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S. Ed.) with a specific subject in 4-8 certification. Supplemental certification may be added in English as a Second Language.

The International Year program is designed especially for international students. It is the first year of study at Baylor University, where students study a combination of English language courses and credit-bearing academic courses. So they can earn credits towards their degree from the beginning.

Professional Writing and Rhetoric

The Professional Writing and Rhetoric (PWR) major provides students numerous opportunities to develop the writing, research, editing, and design expertise needed to excel in careers as copywriters, editors, screenwriters, public relations specialists, marketing coordinators, technical writers, attorneys, social media writers, non-profit writers, and other professional writing positions. Through faculty mentoring, writing internships, and writing-intensive courses, our major produces writers who are versatile communicators, creative professionals, and innovative problem-solvers.

The Church Music program at Baylor University is designed for students desiring to take their passion for music and utilize it in a church setting. The Church Music major is available in the Bachelor of Music (BM) degree or Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. All students desiring to pursue a Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Education or Bachelor of Arts in Music degree must audition before members of the appropriate applied music faculty for acceptance into a music degree program. Students may pursue either a BM or BA in Church Music.
The Church Music major in the Bachelor of Music (BM) program at Baylor allows students to concentrate on one of three different emphases depending on their primary instrument: keyboard, instrumental or voice. The Bachelor of Arts program is designed in the liberal arts tradition and is a good fit for students who want a church music degree and who want to take additional courses outside of their major course of study.

Knowing German can enhance your career opportunities, especially in the areas of international business, foreign service, international transportation, communication and finance. In addition, German is particularly useful if you plan to study theology, music, psychology, philosophy, history or any of the natural sciences. Available courses include:

Astronomy is the study of the universe and all the bodies within it. It examines origins of the universe, stars and planets as well as how they move and evolve in space. Since scientists are rarely able to physically examine many objects in space, astronomy is mostly an observational science. Math, physics, chemistry and geology contribute to astronomy and help inform our understanding of the universe. Astronomy also relies on a variety of instruments, tools, and computer software for analysis and gathering data. Available courses include:

The Latin major, like the Greek major, is in the Classics Department. It is a rigorous study of the Classic Greek and Roman world. The Latin major focuses on original Latin texts and their cultural impact. Upon graduation, Latin majors are able to read and write in Latin. The Human Resource Management major (designated as a pre-major) is a comprehensive study of the way people work in a business. The study includes the hiring process, employee training, conflict resolution and career planning. The program's goal is to train students to be competent human resource specialists who work strategically with organizations to recruit the right talent, motivate them with compensation and make them even more valuable through training and development. The curriculum fully aligns with the standards set by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Available courses include:
