The Master's International Year has been designed for students who don’t meet the entry requirements for direct admission to a Master’s engineering program at Baylor University.

Why Study the Master’s International Year?
Achieve your Master's degree in Engineering in four semesters – the same amount of time as a direct admission student. In this two-semester program, you'll earn up to 12 credits toward your degree while benefiting from the personalized support of our dedicated Global Gateway Program faculty and staff. 

What You Will Study
In the Master's International Program, you’ll study core courses in your Engineering program while developing your English language skills. Your first two semesters will be taught jointly by the University and the International Study Center, so you will be integrated into your Engineering program from the start. 

You’ll develop your engineering skills through coursework and practicum projects, which will vary depending on your interests and ambitions. Alongside engineering, you will be able to study complementary subjects such as business, mathematics, statistics and more – so you graduate ready to begin your career.

Sociology
Sociology is the science that studies the social relationships of people. Coursework includes the study of a wide range of human behaviors from individual development, to relational growth, social institutions including groups, organizations, cultures and social structures. Education Certification - Physical Education
The Physical Education major prepares students for teaching or coaching grades K-12. This degree program satisfies the requirements for the Texas Teachers Certification and prepares students to teach grades K-12 with an emphasis in coaching in either a private or a public school setting. Available courses include:

The Elementary Education program is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a difference through teaching young children and want to become change agents in education. The program prepares highly qualified teachers for work in diverse school settings in Early Childhood through Grade Six. Graduates of the Elementary program earn a Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S. Ed.) and prepare for the Elementary Generalist certification. Supplemental certification may be added in English as a Second Language or Gifted and Talented Education or Special Education.

The School of Education offers a unique experience for Teacher Education majors. Unlike other programs, Baylor's School of Education offers seven semesters of hands-on experience in the classroom. The program builds upon the classroom knowledge and the students are given increasing responsibility each semester. By the students' senior year, they are teaching full time during the fall and spring semesters. Several schools in Waco partner with the Baylor School of Education to provide field experience for Teacher Education majors.

Arabic and Middle East Studies
The Arabic and Middle East Studies major includes foreign language courses and those highlighting Middle East politics and culture. The importance of the Middle East in world affairs has grown in the past decade, and so has the need for workers who are trained in Arabic language and culture. Courses include:

Science Research Fellows is a one-of-a-kind interdisciplinary major (BS) that provides students with an academic foundation for successful research careers in:

Geology
Geology is the science that deals with the Earth's physical structure and substance, its history and the processes that act on it. The Geology major focuses on a wide variety of topics that include materials of the Earth (minerals and rocks) and processes that affect them, as well as the evolution of life and its relationship to Earth materials and processes. These processes can include the formation of rocks, mountains and volcanoes, wind and water.Geologists utilize chemistry, biology and physics to investigate environmental issues, hydrocarbon accumulations, natural hazards, water quality and availability, ores and valuable minerals and natural disasters. Communication Sciences and Disorders is a major that trains students in the processes of communication and speaking. This includes education in identifying and treating various disorders of communication and speech. In this field, professionals seek to diagnose and treat a variety of disorders, improving communication while also improving quality of life. Baylor's major in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) emphasizes speech-language pathology and offers comprehensive education in the fundamental principles of the field.
