Scripture tells us we are “fearfully and wonderfully” made—and few know that better than a physicist! Pretty deep language for something that absolutely rules daily life (like the fact we walk on the ground rather than float hither and yon). Investigate the principles of physics with a high regard for creation’s God-given wonder, complexity, and amazing power.

Physics teaching majors will receive core and specialized professional education in addition to the general education required of secondary and K-12 teacher education students.

We all want to know the answers to the so-called “big questions” of life. So seek them in an intellectually satisfying way at Lipscomb. There are no gimmicks or trends here.  We're following the time-honored, Socratic method of pursuing truth — and doing so in dialogue with the Christian intellectual tradition.

We approach the study of philosophy by reading the classics and by wrestling with ideas and reasons in civil debate with one another. What makes an action right as opposed to wrong?  What is knowledge, and can we have it?  Does anything at all make life meaningful?  How can an all-powerful and good God allow evil to occur?  What distinguishes cogent from fallacious reasoning, and how can we best analyze and assess arguments?  What is the nature of truth, beauty, goodness, and freedom?   

You'll study the work of the greatest minds in Western history. And you'll learn to identify and evaluate the fundamental assumptions that shape how we think about the world — and ourselves. Use the skills you develop in philosophy to pursue internships and job opportunities in a variety of fields, including government, politics, and history. Or continue onto law school, business school, or graduate school to hone your focus even further.

Get ready to experience different cultures from the inside out. As the ability to converse in Spanish is increasing in importance in the U.S. and worldwide, it's no secret that with a background in this language, you'll be better equipped for your profession — and for service. While studying here and abroad, you'll learn to think more critically — and to act with compassion. You'll learn to know and care about your neighbor across the street and the one across the world.

Our Spanish Teaching degree combines the best of two worlds: our respected education program and a course of study involving language, geography and literature. We teach our classes in Spanish to prepare you for a career where you, as a teacher, will do the same.

Professional Chemistry
Want to be a chemist ? This path is for you. You'll go beyond the basic principles of chemistry, learning the complex fields of organic, inorganic, physical and analytical chemistry. Plus, you'll have special courses designed for research and intensive specialized and integrated labs.

Investigate the workings of the natural world, building a deeper understanding of bioscience and a deeper appreciation for the processes of life. Assess the theoretical implications of the field from a philosophical perspective while remaining grounded in scientific knowledge.

Explore the complex relationships between ethics and biology. You’ll debate about subjects like informed consent, medical confidentiality, and allocation of resources, as well as hot topics like euthanasia and abortion. Consider the set of moral principles that medical professionals are faced with every day.

You’ll work with the best and brightest of our biology, chemistry and philosophy faculty to gain a comprehensive knowledge of the history, psychology, theory and science that revolves around the field of bioscience, specifically as it relates to health and medicine. Emerge from the program as a conscientious, informed researcher or scientist.

Forensic Science Emphasis (Chemistry major - applied)
You'll be well connected to alumni in the field of forensic sciences. What we teach will qualify you to work in a crime laboratory, or get a job in drug testing. Green Chemistry Emphasis (Chemistry major - applied)
Our green chemistry emphasis is one of the few curricula in the U.S. at the undergraduate level. With it you’ll find new, safer, and more efficient ways to perform chemical reactions.

The truth is that history graduates can be found in any career where superior analytic training and good writing and communication skills are needed. The economy of today requires versatile, nimble minds who can adjust to the constantly changing landscapes of the global economy and the shuffle that occurs within industries and places.  History majors are ideal for this world as they have faced the challenges of the past with the great writers, ideas, figures, and events. Graduates gain perspective through their studies and the mentoring of our highly-regarded faculty.

We have pledged ourselves to making history accessible to all Lipscomb students. The Great Ideas in History curriculum serves our students' need to know the contours of progress and culture. Our 36-hour major allows students to finish in three years or to add the history major to their primary field of study.

Gain a working knowledge of German language and culture and launch yourself into the top 5 percent of U.S. college graduates. Whether you start a career as a teacher, professional in international business, government, or are planning to go to graduate school, you'll find that German is a vital world language.

After all, Germany is the financial heart of the European Union, the world's largest trading block, not to mention the second largest exporter. So take hold of the opportunities our experienced faculty can connect you with. You'll have the chance for internships or student teaching and even employment by German firms in the South and abroad.

Take advantage of our study abroad program in the heart of Europe — Vienna, Austria. And grow in the Spirit with a special Bible course where you'll visit the Amish and also learn about the German Christian resistance in World War II.  You'll interact with important figures in German life, from business and politics to the music industry, international relations and education. The global learning experience you receive here will provide you the confidence you need as a K-12 teacher or a business professional.
