Overview
The Master of Arts (MA) in Clinical Psychology program is a 60 semester hour program designed to develop mastery of the scientific principles and methods of psychology and their application to clinical issues. The primary education and training mission of the program is to provide a program of study with an applied clinical emphasis to prepare students for the practice of psychology or counseling at the master’s level of licensure. Students are required to take a sequence of core curriculum coursework that emphasizes major academic areas within the discipline of psychology before advancing to specialized coursework in the area of clinical psychology that prepares them for the professional application of psychological principles. In addition, students receive supervised clinical practicum experience as part of their training. They may also choose to complete an empirical thesis under the supervision of a faculty advisor.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

This is a dynamic department—with students studying human relationships, analyzing film and television, creating films, practicing public relations, writing for the student newspaper, and instructing others in communication.
Our students pursue degrees in communication studies or media arts with emphases in media studies or media production. We also have minors in communication studies, public relations, and digital journalism, as well as a teaching certificate in communication. Additionally, we have a Master of Arts in Communication.

Master of Science in Professional Counseling
The Master of Science in Professional Counseling (60 semester hours) offers training in three major areas:
Upon completion of the degree program, students will have met all relevant Texas Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) educational requirements. Students who complete the marriage, couple, and family counseling emphasis will also meet Texas Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) educational requirements. Each students’ personal and professional development is periodically reviewed by faculty. Students who fail to demonstrate basic knowledge, personal skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills, and/or counseling skills will be asked to seek remediation or may be dismissed from the program.
All counseling programs at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs.

The International Year is a 3-semester program, equivalent to a year's study of a bachelor's degree. This program has been specially designed to prepare international students for an undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. You will learn in a supportive environment, helping you to adjust to your new surroundings.
Your International Year program will be a combination of English for Academic Purposes courses to develop your English language skills, and route specific courses. Computer Science
The computer science degree program is applied in nature and is designed to prepare students to begin or advance computing careers in business, industry, government, or education, or to pursue further study in computer science. The curriculum is thorough, current, and oriented toward the technical competencies required of a modern computer professional with an emphasis on the development, evaluation, and integration of software systems.
What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll analyze a complex computing problem, and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions. You’ll also design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline. The mission of the geology program is to provide integrated and process-oriented curricula, based on fundamental scientific principles and processes that enable graduates to pursue challenging careers and maintain lifelong learning. In addition, our program is designed to serve majors from geographic information science, environmental science, as well as science students in other fields who are interested in adding to their knowledge of the Earth and planetary system.
Persons interested in geology should have a genuine interest in natural sciences, some inborn curiosity to figure "things" out, and, as in any technical profession, a good portion of perseverance and motivation. Many geologists like the outdoors, but a lot of geoscience is done in the lab, on the computer, on board of a ship, or using remotely operated tools such as satellites and the rovers on planet Mars. Because science is also about effective communication, it helps to have a certain talent for technical writing and public speaking.
