Undergraduate International Pathway Program (2-Semester) - Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies

The accounting major is designed to provide entry-level knowledge, skills, and concepts for careers in accounting.

Accounting careers are generally divided into four broad areas, corresponding to particular employment environments: management accounting, government accounting, accounting education, and public accounting.

The International Year is a 1-semester program, equivalent to a year's study of a bachelor's degree. This program has been specially designed to prepare international students for an undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. You will learn in a supportive environment, helping you to adjust to your new surroundings.

Your International Year program will be a combination of English for Academic Purposes courses to develop your English language skills, and route specific courses. Each of these courses has been specially designed to help you develop the skills required to help you succeed in your university degree.

Chemistry
The Chemistry faculty seeks to provide a high-quality educational experience for students majoring in chemistry in preparation for industrial or government positions, for graduate study, and for entry to medical or dental schools. The program is also designed for those planning to teach chemistry or physics at the 7-12 level, or who need chemical knowledge and skills relevant to future studies in the sciences. The student who wishes to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry may do so by following one of the four curriculum plans referred to as Concentrations. The options include general, environmental, biochemistry, and physical science education concentrations. Students who are pre-medical, pre-dental, pre-optometry, pre-pharmacy, or pre-veterinary medicine may follow the biochemistry concentration. In addition, the biochemistry concentration offers an option which would allow students to pursue certification in clinical chemistry while obtaining their Bachelors in Chemistry.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll gain a broad understanding of chemical concepts. You’ll also understand a variety of chemical data. As part of this degree, you’ll perfect your communication skills regarding chemical information in oral and written form, with appropriate use of technology.

Geographic Information Science
The geographic information science degree programs enable students to apply computing, physical science, and mathematical principles (including multivariate calculus and differential equations) to design and build physical systems to model the Earth. Our students are educated to gather geospatial data via remote sensing and land surveying then convert this data, along with other geospatial data resources, into manageable digital maps and databases for display and analysis.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you will be prepared with knowledge and skills for a variety of career paths related to the acquisition, analysis, and management of geospatial data and information. Career paths include education towards advanced degrees and employment in the fields of geomatics and geographic information systems.

The computer science degree program is applied in nature and is designed to prepare students to begin or advance computing careers in business, industry, government, or education, or to pursue further study in computer science. The curriculum is thorough, current, and oriented toward the technical competencies required of a modern computer professional with emphasis on the development, evaluation, and integration of software systems.

The mission of the computer science program is to educate undergraduate and graduate students in the principles of computer science and to extend the understanding and use of those principles by conducting research and service in support of the people and economy of south Texas, the state of Texas as a whole, and the nation, consistent with the program’s function within a Hispanic-serving institution. Criminal Justice
This program has two main objectives: to provide an advanced understanding of the criminal justice system and its components and to provide either a concentration of knowledge and application of skills in a specialized subfield of study or a broad exploration of the discipline-based on individual student needs through the selection of disciplinary electives.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you will demonstrate an understanding of the operation and purposes of the major components of the criminal justice system (police, courts, and corrections). You’ll also demonstrate the ability to critically analyze the criminal justice system and its aims and objectives. History
History is a popular major, not just because it is a fascinating subject, but also because it encourages students to develop useful skills that will serve them in graduate and professional programs and in many occupations. Students of history find themselves in classes that are reading and writing intensive. They hone their thinking ability as they encounter diverse views of historical development to implement methods and theories used in analyzing and understanding the past.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you will understand, evaluate, and creatively use large amounts of information and put these to fruition in reading, writing, and speaking effectively.  You will also make keen observations, solve problems, and make appropriate decisions. As apart of this degree, you will also know and understand the world in which you live and to concentrate for long periods of time.

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program is designed for students with diverse undergraduate backgrounds. It is a program suitable for both non-business and business graduates.

The goal of the MBA program is to prepare individuals for the responsibilities of management in a wide variety of business and non-business endeavors.

The curriculum is thorough, current, and oriented toward the technical competencies required of a modern computer professional with an emphasis on the development, evaluation, and integration of software systems.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll analyze a complex computing problem, and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions. You’ll also design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline. As apart of this degree, you will be able to communicate effectively, make informed judgments and function as a member or leader within computer science team using theory and software development fundamentals to produce solutions.
