As a graduate of TROY’s surveying and geomatics sciences program, you’ll have opportunities to work as a surveyor with some of the most modern and precise satellite navigation systems and measurement devices. You’ll also gain a knowledge and understanding of legal issues ranging from boundary location to land development and environmental regulation.

TROY surveying and geomatics sciences graduates play key roles in the design and construction of the nation’s buildings, roads, bridges, tunnels, water-supply systems and utilities. Depending on your area of expertise, you may find yourself designing and building computer systems for purposes such as land management, resource management, utility organization, traffic control and urban planning. Working as a surveyor, you can also help less developed countries change their land ownership systems to promote economic growth and democracy. In fact, many surveyors also work toward environmental protection and efficient utilization of the earth’s resources.

TROY is home to the only Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited surveying and geomatics sciences program in the state of Alabama. In fact, the program is one of the few in the Southeastern United States. This program offers students the tools and direction to enter the professional Theatre industry, graduate study in Theatre, or work in a related field. Students have the opportunity to explore the broad world of Theatre while discovering and developing their own areas of interest and emphasis, gaining hands-on experience in performance, design, technology, management, playwriting, and advanced academic studies. Students develop résumé and portfolio materials, learn to network with industry professionals, and are encouraged to work professionally through employment opportunities and internships. The rich array of professional quality theatre, musical theatre, and dance productions each year give students a chance to immediately apply what is learned in the classroom, and new works and outreach initiatives allow students to experiment with creating and producing their own work.

Individuals interested in helping others will find that a degree in human services will prepare them for a variety of professional roles. Human services professionals may choose areas of practice that allow them to assist children and families, the elderly, the homeless, immigrants or veterans. In addition, they may assist people with addictions, criminal records, disabilities and mental illnesses.

Human services professionals work in a variety of organizations such as those assisting people with finding employment and appropriating food, nutrition, housing and shelter. They may also serve as victims’ assistants or work in public safety or disaster relief.

The Troy University School of Accountancy is committed to providing students the accounting education required to enter the accounting profession and to pursue a successful professional career. The Troy University School of Accountancy offers an undergraduate accounting curriculum that provides the foundation for entering the accounting profession in the public, private, or governmental area. An undergraduate degree in accounting will also give you a strong foundation in business-related topics such as marketing, finance, and management. Earning your degree in Accounting gives you flexibility in choosing employment or furthering your education. If you choose immediate employment, you will have the skills to obtain an entry-level position in a public, private, or governmental entity. If you choose to further your education, you will have the coursework necessary to enter graduate programs in accounting such as the Master of Accountancy. As a TROY student, you will have an opportunity to seek a paid internship at one of the many local, regional and national firms or private company businesses and governmental agencies that recruit students from Troy University. The internships generally begin in January and last approximately three months. Importantly, the internship program is part of the accounting curriculum, so participation in the internship program does not delay graduation.

You will also have the opportunity to participate in the recruiting activities sponsored by the School of Accountancy. Our annual Accountancy Day and Meet-the-Firms events provide networking opportunities with Certified Public Accounting (CPA) firms as well as governmental agencies and private company industry representatives. You will have the opportunity to enhance your interview skills through workshops co-sponsored with the Alabama Society of CPAs, Becker CPA Review, and ITAC Solutions. As a TROY student, you may also join the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)—one of the most prestigious professional organizations in the United States—as well as the Alabama Society of CPAs.
