Religious studies is most commonly known for preparing individuals for pastoral ministry. However, pursuing a degree in religious studies also prepares graduates for a wide range of fields and provides them with a skill set that is desirable to many employers.

Individualized Studies Emphasis
Choose your path.  Decide on 24 semester hours in religious studies and/or philosophy.  Some English courses and permission of the instructor are required.

Exercise science is an interdisciplinary field focused on the study of maintaining and improving the health of patients and clients across the age spectrum. The Exercise Science for Health Professions Program is designed to prepare undergraduate students for entry into a wide variety of disciplines, particularly health professions graduate programs.

The interdisciplinary nature of the program provides a variety of pathways for exercise science students after earning their undergraduate degree. Our curriculum places a high emphas is on comprehensive biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics and anatomy courses, giving students the foundational knowledge required to excel at the graduate level in healthcare professions.

Students who major in exercise science for health professions can continue on to pursue careers as a(n):

The goal of the Japanese program at the University of Findlay is to help you develop communication skills that will enable you to pursue a career in virtually any industry with Japanese as a second language. Findlay offers a bachelor's degree in Japanese, a bachelor's degree in multi-age Japanese (grades K-12) with a teaching license.

Experiential Learning
Our instruction strongly emphasizes the functional and practical use of the language as well as education about the Japanese culture. You will be immersed in the language with lessons both inside and outside of the classrooms.  

You will practice your Japanese language skills:

• In class
• On-campus activities with Japanese students
• Activities with the Findlay area Japanese community members
• Study abroad and internship programs in Japan (short visits or up to a year)

There are approximately 350 Japanese speakers in the Findlay area, and you will do various things with them. We also have strong ties with Japan. We are affiliated with some large educational institutions, several universities, companies, and language schools in Japan.   

Every semester, you will find some of our students studying and/or working in Japan. Some of our graduates work in Japan as well as in Japanese companies located in the US. Some of our graduates became teachers of Japanese in the US and teachers of English in Japan.

The most successful social workers are those with strong leadership skills, compassion, and the drive to help individuals improve their lives. The University of Findlay’s Social Work Program looks for students who demonstrate a commitment to social change through work experiences, academic endeavors and extracurricular activities or community service.

Sport Business Strategy at the University of Findlay is a highly dynamic program focused on hands-on learning.

The sport and event industry continues to grow in all aspects. Sports and entertainment are merging to create employment opportunities that require business fundamentals along with specialized knowledge. Entertainment, sporting, and event management are among the second-largest group of employers in the U.S. and the largest in the world. This area employs two out of every 10 people and accounts for more than seven percent of the world’s gross national product. Closely allied with the hospitality industries, sport business strategy has become a growing area of interest for many businesses worldwide.

Students pursuing the Sport Business Strategy Emphasis have the opportunity to complement their degree with a minor or double-major in other areas of business which include hospitality management, marketing, public relations, and wellness and exercise promotion.

Accounting is essential to all public, private and governmental entities. It is practiced in every organization and enterprise in the world, and accountants play a key role. Students who choose to study accounting at the University of Findlay graduate with more than just a basic understanding of accounting - they understand the business as a whole. They earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting, which provides them with the foundational skills and in-depth knowledge required to be successful in the world of business.

• Courses that exceed Ohio Certified Public Accountant (CPA) academic requirements - If interested in obtaining the CPA license, you can join the CPA track program, which combines an undergraduate degree specializing in accounting with an MBA (4+1) program. If you’re interested in sitting for the CMA (Certified Management Accountant) exam, you may take it as an upperclassman upon recommendation of your adviser or upon graduation.
• Mentorship program with community partners - Mentoring and shadowing provide real-world knowledge and networking opportunities. Accounting freshmen and sophomores are paired with juniors and seniors, while juniors and seniors have a professional in the field as a mentor for career advice and guidance.

The Master of Arts in Rhetoric and Writing (MARW) Program is a two-year (36 credit hour) face-to-face program that can be completed sooner if you choose to enroll in summer classes. Our program offers students the flexibility to take classes full or part-time and applications to our program are accepted year-round. So, you can enroll and begin taking classes in the fall, spring, or summer.

The courses that you will take to complete 36 hours include eight core classes, two elective classes, and two thesis capstone classes that culminate in the successful defense of either a traditional print or a webtext thesis project.

The program is more affordable than most state-schools at $535 per credit hour. The total cost of tuition for MARW program is $19,260. Graduate assistantship funding is available for teaching, research, and administrative duties and all MARW students who applied for positions received them.

All MARW students applying before May 1 each year are eligible for assistantship funding to teach College Writing I or II, Introduction to Technical Writing, Introduction to Speech, or Introduction to Digital Media. MARW students can also apply to tutor students in the Graduate Writing Center.

All of our MARW teaching and tutoring assistants are fully trained at a summer teaching orientation as well as weekly meetings with faculty mentors.

The political science major at the University of Findlay will expose you to the many areas of study within the political science realm. This major offers you an opportunity to immerse yourself in the major subfields of the discipline.

Political science graduates follow a variety of career paths. For some, our political science major is a stepping stone for law or graduate school. Majoring in political science sets the stage for careers in areas such as:

The major objective of the program is to provide you with exposure to the many areas of study within the political science realm so that you are prepared to make knowledgeable decisions regarding future career and academic choices. You may also choose to minor in either political science or public administration.

You will have the opportunity to gain further specialization in one of the areas listed above through advanced course work and directed study with a political science instructor. Also, with one-on-one advising and dedicated faculty, you will receive consistent mentorship and guidance to help you reach your career goals.

Our program has an interdisciplinary curriculum designed to prepare students for successful careers in many diverse areas of political science including business, law, risk management, real estate and civil rights. Many students also choose to develop an individualized program by double-majoring with a complimenting area of study such as business, criminal justice and pre-law. Political science is also offered as a minor.

Operations and logistics professionals ensure quality products and services are provided to customers in a timely and cost effective manner.

Every company, regardless of size, must create procedures to efficiently process goods and services from the original request to the point of delivery and beyond. At the University of Findlay, students learn a broad range of skills that pertain to business capabilities and operations. Operations and logistics students learn how to plan, design, implement, manage and support activities for virtually any industry.

• Six Sigma Green Belt Certification - Offered as part of a master's class (MBA 685), Six Sigma Green Belt Certification teaches a statistical approach to business problem solving, which can be used to solve problems like inefficiency in the manufacturing industry.
