Engineering technology requires the application of engineering and scientific knowledge and methods combined with technical skills in support of engineering activities. Graduates may work in a variety of areas including engineering design, manufacturing, field service, testing, and sales and may work in management positions related to engineering, manufacturing, and computer technology.

This curriculum prepares students for careers in health and fitness promotion and education programs in hospitals, sports medicine centers, wellness clinics, universities, and rehabilitation facilities. Students are also prepared for advanced degree programs in the health professions, basic biology fields, medicine, or other health-related fields. Students must earn a grade of C (2.0) or better in every required course. Successful completion of early and prerequisite courses is required before advancing to sequenced and higher-level coursework. 

Matriculating students should have strong aptitudes in mathematics and science along with imagination, spatial and graphic abilities, communication skills, and creativity. Students then follow a four-year program that conforms to the guidelines of, and is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, the global accreditor of college and university programs in applied and natural science, computing, engineering and engineering technology.  ABET accreditation assures that programs meet standards to produce graduates ready to enter critical technical fields that are leading the way in innovation and emerging technologies, and anticipating the welfare and safety needs of the public.

The first two years of the program provide the necessary technical knowledge in mathematics, chemistry, and physics, while introducing and developing problem-solving techniques in eight courses tailored to civil engineering students. The junior year provides courses in each of the civil engineering sub-disciplines, providing students with skills in each and allowing students to determine which they wish to pursue further. The senior year is flexible, allowing students to choose where to focus attention by selecting from more than forty elective courses in civil and environmental engineering.

The MS IT program is a professional graduate program in the applied and fast-changing field of Information Technology. the program prepares students for a professional IT or computing-related career and for advanced studies in a computing discipline. Offered at the University's urban campus in Manchester, a city that embraces cultural diversity, the program welcomes students from all over the word. With classes scheduled during the day and in the evening in fall, spring, and summer terms, the program gives students the flexibility to enroll full- or part-time. For diligent undergraduate students, this program is also available as an Accelerated Master’s Program.

The Department of Natural Resources and the Environment offers a Master of Science program that provides advanced, research-based study in the ecology, biogeochemistry, economics, policy, and management of vital natural resources, including water, soil, forests, wildlife, and agricultural crops. Students take an interdisciplinary approach to their research and use the tools of the natural and social sciences, including geospatial methods, to make fundamental and significant contributions toward local, regional, and global sustainability.

Students are supported by a highly productive and internationally recognized faculty, outstanding laboratory facilities, and a diversity of accessible terrestrial, marine, and freshwater field sites. Research conducted by faculty and graduate students has resulted in UNH being ranked second of 316 North American institutions in scholarly contributions to the field of ecology.

Paul College’s STEM designated Master of Science in Analytical Economics is a breed apart. The program offers students a choice between an academic track or an industry track. The academic track provides a full year of doctoral-level economic theory, econometric analysis, and research seminar. It is designed for for students whose ultimate goal is to become a Ph.D. economist. Students also have the flexibility of pursuing a mixed track.

The industry track’s curriculum is unlike any other Master’s program in the country. It is interdisciplinary, weaving together economic theory, data analytics, statistical methods, and data modeling. The program’s mix of doctoral-level and applied classes is also distinctive. Students learn economic theory and statistical methods at the doctoral level. They also use economic theory and data to understand a range of business decision problems. Innovative applied classes include Macroeconomic Consulting and Strategy Analysis: Games and Auctions.

Few other Master’s programs in the country provide a toolkit with comparable interdisciplinary range or rigor. Students learn economic theory and econometrics, code in R and STATA, and learn SQL, PowerBI, and Tableau all in one year. Graduates are uniquely trained to help business managers and project leaders not only formulate decision problems, but communicate with IT people on what data and analysis may be needed. People with this training are increasingly in high demand.

The ANSC: dairy management option is designed to provide students with solid training in areas important to the successful management of a dairy enterprise, for employment in related agribusinesses (e.g., pharmaceutical and feed industries), or for those wishing to pursue additional training leading to the M.S. or Ph.D. degree in dairy science or its related disciplines. Dairy management students receive training in areas such as nutrition, reproduction, diseases, genetics, lactation physiology, forages, agribusiness finance, personnel management, computer science, and public relations. The Fairchild Dairy Teaching and Research Center and the Burley-DeMerritt Organic Dairy Research Farm are modern dairy facilities. The Fairchild Dairy houses 85 lactating Holstein cows plus a similar number of non-lactating animals. The Burley-DeMerritt Farm houses 50 lactating Jersey cows plus a small number of non-lactating animals. If you’re interested in teaching music in a K-12 setting, our music education degree will start you down the path toward certification. Students demonstrating musical skill and a firm commitment to leading school students to artistic success may qualify for the program. You’ll study music history, theory, analysis and performance, as well as teaching methods and human development. You’ll be able to select an emphasis in vocal or instrumental music. With a degree in music education, you’ll be qualified for your New Hampshire teacher certification in music for grades K-12, which also is accepted in several other states.

If you’re interested in teaching music and would like to obtain a graduate degree, the pre-teaching degree program allows you to complete a Bachelor of Music in music education degree and a Master of Arts in Teaching degree in five years of study. After four years of undergraduate music education, you’ll undertake a fifth-year internship and graduate study to complete your Master of Arts and teaching certification. You’ll study music history, theory analysis and performance, as well as teaching methods and human development. You’ll be able to select an emphasis in vocal or instrumental music.

The Health Management and Policy (HMP) curriculum includes a variety of healthcare organizational and policy courses. Students work closely with their advisor and faculty to develop an academic and career plan. Students are required to complete a core of introductory courses prior to their junior year in the HMP major. Upper-division (junior and senior) HMP courses are planned in a two-year sequence, (see course sequence) and includes a 400-hour three-credit internship. Along with completing major courses, students will be guided to complete the University requirements for writing intensive courses and Discovery courses to obtain the minimally required 128 credits to graduate. It is important to note that internal transfer students may require an extra year in the major due to the prescribed course sequence.This degree prepares students to be healthcare leaders in areas, including, but not limited to: analyst, consultant, epidemiologist, healthcare administrator, healthcare analyst, human resources, healthcare sales, lawyer, marketer, practice manager, and researcher.
