USMLE Exam Format:

The exam consists of three steps, with the first step taking eight hours, the second step taking nine hours, and the third step spanning two days (seven hours on day one and nine hours on day two).

Day 1: FOUNDATIONS OF

INDEPENDENT PRACTICE

(FIP) evaluates the examinee's understanding of fundamental medical and scientific principles necessary for providing efficient healthcare.


 

Day 2: ADVANCED CLINICAL

MEDICINE (ACM) evaluates the examinee's capacity to apply extensive health and disease knowledge in patient management, considering the changing presentation of disease over time.

Day 1 FIP:

Approximately 232 MCQs, divided into six 60-minute blocks.
