The Bachelor of Creative Arts is an innovative program that tailors its offerings to students’ unique ambitions and interests. The personalised nature of the program empowers students to identify their own ambitions, then equips them with the skills, theory and practice to navigate existing pathways—or design their own. Creative Arts students undertake three majors. All students begin with creative writing subjects to develop a range of foundation skills in creative thinking and narrative. Students also select a specialist creative major (Advertising; Communication & Society; Corporate Storytelling; Digital Media; Film & Television; Journalism; Media Studies; Public Relations or Social Media). Within their creative specialisation, students learn through a hands-on, project-based approach to learning, where they are encouraged to develop industry relationships, undertake creative internships and practice and publish within their chosen creative niches. Finally, the flexible program enables students to ground their creative endeavours within a third major. A creative entrepreneur may pursue a business major, an aspiring thriller writer might study criminology or a documentary filmmaker might study international relations to better understand working in a non–profit organisation. In the final stages of their degree, students will have the opportunity to develop a substantial creative project, which will knit what they have learned across their three selected content areas together into a major portfolio piece showcasing their skills and talents.

The Master of Financial Management (Professional) is a postgraduate qualification which provides the essential knowledge and analytical skills for making key financial decisions faced by corporate managers, business bankers, wealth advisors and financial managers. Students receive personal development and professional practice as a result of the 20-week Professional component. The classes combine theoretical knowledge in finance with practical insights delivered through case studies and guest lectures. Team building is encouraged through group projects and communication skills are enhanced through class presentations. The program equips students to think critically, communicate professionally, work collaboratively, make ethical and responsible business decisions, and work effectively in a global business context characterised by change and uncertainty. The free choice business electives provide students with the opportunity to customise the program to meet their individualised interests and enhance their employability and career options.

The Bachelor of Commerce program develops students’ financial literacy, business analytic and decision-making skills, leadership, and management skills through experiential learning and authentic assessment tasks relevant to the choice of major. This degree equips students to think creatively and critically, problem-solve, communicate professionally, work collaboratively, make ethical and responsible business decisions, and work effectively in an ever-changing and increasingly complex global business environment. In the Bachelor of Commerce, students complete a major which specifically prepares them for a professional career in Accounting, Actuarial Science, Economics or Finance fields. By undertaking a specified set of subjects according to their chosen discipline, Bachelor of Commerce students graduating with an Accounting, Actuarial Science or Finance major are eligible to pursue professional qualifications offered by their field’s governing bodies. Students are also encouraged to complete a minor to diversify their skills and enhance their employability.

The Master of Valuation and Property Development (Professional) provides a wide range of skills that can be applied to global property markets. This program is designed to equip graduates with strong knowledge and advanced technical skills applicable to a variety of career paths such as property valuation and investment, finance, asset management and research. The curriculum addresses a range of topics including finance and taxation, corporate portfolio management, risk identification and management, feasibility analysis, law, property valuation and market analysis. This degree provides the opportunity to specialise in Property Valuation. Professional Portfolio is a 20 week, 45 credit point subject available to Masters of Valuation and Property Development (Professional) students in the Faculty of Society & Design. This subject is strongly experientially oriented and encourages students to develop their professional skills in a real world environment. The subject will ensure that students combine self-analysis and reflective learning skills with professional methodologies, so as to expand analytic and strategic thinking capabilities. It will provide practical experience for students to develop their skills in a profession relevant to their Master’s specialisation. All students will complete a 2,000-word scoping document, and either undertake a work placement in Australia for 210 hours (which includes an employer’s report) and reflective journal (up to 5,000 words) OR complete a collaborative research project totalling up to 15,000 words. All students will submit a final professional portfolio collection of documents, highlighting their practical and theoretical expertise in their profession of choice.

The Bachelor of Policy, Philosophy and Economics is an inter-disciplinary degree equipping you with technical, practical and cultural knowledge and skills required for successful careers in public administration and the not-for-profit sector. It combines study in Law, Politics, Economics and Philosophy with the flexibility of a five subject elective program.  The Bachelor of Policy, Philosophy and Economics prepares you for future positions in the public sector, including career opportunities in the public service, politics, public policy institutes, advocacy groups and the not-for-profit sector.

The Master of Architecture/Master of Project Management is a dual degree that combines an accredited professional degree for a career in architecture, complying with the competency requirements of the Board of Architects Queensland and the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia, with an accredited postgraduate course in project management. This dual degree course is highly-relevant to contemporary demand for leaders in the field to have excellent design and management skills for effective project leadership. The Master of Architecture/Master of Project Management provides an authentic blending of creative practice professional study with contemporary project management. The Master of Architecture subjects are delivered seamlessly with the standard architecture program.  The Master of Architecture is a creative studio-based program focusing heavily upon design through hands-on and digital making with state-of-the-art tools. Project-based design studios focus upon real-world scenarios with specific attention to urbanism, the future of global cities, and the role of architecture and the architect in addressing urban, environmental, social, and technological change. Graduates will display mastery of architectural design abilities that are creative, critical, analytical, and spatial and based in advanced historical, theoretical, technical and disciplinary knowledge. All graduates will complete a design thesis as the cumulative result of the Masters course that demonstrates independent, self-directed critical thinking and sophisticated design capability.  For full-time students, the majority of the Master of Architecture coursework shall be completed before embarking upon the Master of Project Management portion of the degree.  Through the program offerings at the Abedian School of Architecture, issues of pressing international and national concern form the core content of the studio curriculum. Among the most prominent of these are the challenges posed by our contemporary condition globally, one characterised by rapid urbanisation, environmental change, technological emergence, and increasing socioeconomic inequity. The Master of Architecture will prepare students for globally-relevant employment through development of a sophisticated set of disciplinary competencies and acquired knowledge, providing the ability to synthesise diverse information in the resolution of complex creative-design challenges using a globally-applicable skillset that is deployed locally.     Established as a highly-flexible and student-focused degree program, students in the Master of Architecture/Master of Project Management will study for 6 semesters full time but eligible domestic students may also choose to study part-time. Studies include content from the disciplines of architecture, digital media, construction, city planning, urban design, project management and university electives. The combined Masters degree in International Relations and Project Management enables students interested in a career in diplomacy, international trade, government and business to acquire expertise in the planning, implementation and management of projects and programs.
