Completing the Bachelor of Oral Health at CQUniversity enables you to apply to the Dental Board of Australia for registration as an Oral Health Therapist.

Designed to equip you with a broad skill set, the course ensures you graduate work-ready. You will develop skills to effectively perform preventive and operative dentistry for patients and provide specialist dental practices. In addition, your education and training will provide you with underpinning industry knowledge so you can educate and promote oral health in small group and community settings.

The course has a strong focus on work-integrated learning in pre-clinical and clinical settings such as our purpose-fit oral health laboratory and dental clinic at CQUniversity Rockhampton. The newly designed Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) develops your problem-solving, teamwork and communication skills and incorporates project-based learning so you can graduate work ready.

The first year of your studies provides a generic understanding of engineering, allowing you to experience each different area of engineering before you choose a particular path to follow. Later in your studies you have the flexibility to choose to study Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronic or Resource Systems Engineering.

This qualification reflects the role of commercial cooks who use a wide range of cookery skills. They use discretion and judgement and have a sound knowledge of kitchen operations. Students work with some independence and under limited supervision and may provide operational advice and support to team members. For those students undertaking the Certificate III in Commercial Cookery who also wish to qualify for the Trade Certification the process of qualifying with trade equivalence may take up to 3 years, however students who are employed throughout this time in the industry may be able to fast track.

The Bachelor of Information Technology is a highly practical degree that will equip you with a broad foundation of IT knowledge and skills and embeds work-integrated learning opportunities to prepare you for a successful career in the information technology (IT) industry. During the course, you will study a common first term made up of four units covering project management, introductory programming, ICT services management and information systems analysis and design. Following completion of your first four units, you will begin studying in your chosen major: networks and information security; mobile application development; and software design and development. Minors cover new technologies such as blockchain, neural networks, machine learning, internet-of-things, sustainable practices with IT, and big data. The project management minor provides a unique opportunity to complete a minor in project management and study set elective units to graduate with both the Masters degree and a Graduate Certificate in Project Management (within the standard two years).

By choosing to study a Graduate Diploma of Information Technology you will obtain the knowledge to successfully design, implement and manage issues involved in the application of Information Technology (IT).

You will also gain a comprehensive understanding of the techniques and practicalities of the information systems development process. Your study will also provide a broad understanding of IT applications as well as specific skills in programming, databases and project management.

You have the option to choose one unit from one of the three majors in the Master of Information Technology (software design and development, networks and information security, and mobile application development) plus one elective. With this course, you will enhance your knowledge from the areas studied in the Graduate Certificate in Information Technology. The Graduate Diploma of Information Technology is a pathway into the Master of Information Technology.

Speech pathology is an exciting career that will enable you the opportunity to work with people across the lifespan. Completing the Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) at CQUniversity will equip you with valuable skills to enable you to work with people of all ages who have communication or swallowing difficulties. Your education and training will include a broad range of disciplines such as psychology, medical sciences and linguistics and phonetics, designed to ensure you graduate work-ready.

Completing placements in a variety of practice settings during your studies will enable you to gain valuable practical experience before you enter the workforce. This includes being part of a multidisciplinary team at the purpose-built Allied Health Clinic at CQUniversity Rockhampton where you will learn alongside students from other disciplines including occupational therapy, physiotherapy and oral health.

On completion of this course, you will be qualified as an entry-level speech pathologist, ready to work with children and/or adults with a diverse range of communication and swallowing difficulties, in a variety of contexts. As part of your final year of study, you will be required to complete a research project on a topic relevant to speech pathology.

Study the Bachelor of Nursing and gain the knowledge and skills needed to become a Registered Nurse (Division 1). This course prepares you to be reflective about your practice as a nurse and develop clinical reasoning skills in order to confidently and safely engage in contemporary nursing practice in a variety of environments and contexts and adapt to the needs of people from diverse backgrounds.

Through this course, you will acquire skills to provide person-centred care and collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. You will seek evidence to ensure safe quality practice and act in a professional, ethical and compassionate manner. In addition, you will learn to nurture the development of nursing as a practice discipline and demonstrate leadership in healthcare. You will explore how life-long learning skills can facilitate continuing professional development.

Clinical learning is a key element of the Bachelor of Nursing and you will be required to undertake 800 hours of professional experience placement in a variety of settings with different health organisations. You must meet specific mandatory health, safety and security requirements to be eligible to attend each professional experience placement. Professional experience placements may be limited in your community. This means that you may be placed in other locations and you may be required to relocate to complete your placements.

HLT54121 Diploma of Nursing reflects the role of an enrolled nurse working under the direct or indirect supervision of a registered nurse.

Enrolled nurses provide nursing care for people across the health care continuum and at all stages of life.

To be eligible to apply for registration as an enrolled nurse and to practice in Australia, individuals must complete a Diploma of Nursing program accredited by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) and approved as ‘an approved program of study’ by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) in accordance with the Enrolled Nurse Accreditation Standards.

The aim of this course is to give you a comprehensive overview of the scientific discipline of psychology and its applications. The course is delivered in accordance with the foundational (level one) competencies for three-year undergraduate psychology programs as specified by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC). You will acquire an understanding of the underlying principles, theories and concepts within the discipline. In addition, you will develop knowledge of the range of core research areas that make up the discipline, and an understanding of the methodologies and statistical techniques used by researchers for information gathering and analysis. There will be opportunities for you to explore applied and professional uses of psychology. In addition, you will be introduced to psychological theory, research, and applied and professional uses of psychology in an ethical and culturally responsive context.

Upon completion of this course, you will have a highly marketable quali?cation. This course is universally acknowledged as an indication of competence and achievement in understanding human thought and behaviour that can be applied in a variety of people-oriented vocations. Graduating with this qualification, however, will not allow you to call yourself a 'psychologist'. This requires further study involving an Honours course (4th year of study) and then an accredited Psychology Board of Australia pathway.
