In RMIT's Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering) (Honours), you'll learn the processes behind the production and distribution of electricity.

Electrical engineering at RMIT is about more than just learning the theories behind the discipline. It's about putting those theories into practice to solve problems. You’ll learn the skills necessary to make useful products and provide quality services by spending time on experiments in laboratory classes and designing projects.

In this professionally accredited degree, you’ll learn to design, develop and supervise the manufacture, installation, operation and maintenance of electrical systems. You’ll also work on systems for the generation, distribution, utilisation, and control of electric power, electronic and control systems used for various domestic and industrial applications.

You’ll develop high-level technical and design skills and focus on a specialist area such as energy conversion, power systems, renewable energy, high-voltage equipment and control engineering. 

Work integrated learning opportunities will provide you with real world experience. You’ll design creative solutions through inspiring and sustainable design-and-build projects, take part in the Engineers Without Borders Challenge, complete industry capstone projects and undertake work placements in Australia or overseas.

RMIT's Bachelor of Engineering (Electronic and Computer Systems Engineering) (Honours) will enable you to find better solutions to challenges in the design, construction and maintenance of embedded systems, firmware development, electronic hardware, communication and network systems.

This could include the automation of electrical and electronic systems; audio and visual information acquisition, digital signal processing; human-machine interaction, industrial or medical instrumentation and monitoring; reconfigurable logic development; distributed computing and provision of security for computer systems and networks.

You will learn to design and build devices and systems that transfer and store information via radio frequency or optical fibre transmissions, and manage and secure the flow of information through such systems.

The Bachelor of Arts (Photography) integrates theoretical, conceptual and industry based models of photographic practice as they apply to the media and communication industry.

You will be challenged to produce work that responds to the critical discourses in both local and global contexts and you will explore emerging technologies, while also analysing and synthesising their relevance to your own image making.
As a professional practitioner with specialist knowledge in photography, you will have the awareness and skills to interpret and shape your field once you graduate. You can select from existing applied research projects that are well supported by industry. These projects will deliver fundamental research leading to innovative new products, processes and knowledge.

Research opportunities are in the fields of rheology, advanced and functional materials, water and wastewater, energy, complex liquid flow, microfluidics, and surface science.

You will be expertly supervised while you work on a project in one of the following areas:

The School of Engineering has excellent laboratory facilities for rheology, materials characterisation, polymer processing, and water quality and treatment. We also have facilities for the conduct of lab and pilot scale investigations which are complemented by a comprehensive range of general and specialist analytical equipment. You will also have the opportunity to use RMIT’s state-of-the-art, multi-million dollar MicroNano Research Facility.

Designed to meet the needs of the global automotive industry, this degree develops the skills you need to take a leading role in automotive engineering design, control systems, numerical simulations, manufacturing and testing.

During your studies, you will have the flexibility to specialise in either advanced automotive design and development or automotive manufacturing.

Using contemporary engineering methods and computational and experimental tools, including advanced computer-aided engineering software such as LS-DYNA, you’ll gain hands-on experience in several state-of-the-art experimental facilities—including the full-scale Vehicle Wind Tunnel, Driverless Vehicles Lab, Green Engines Research Laboratory and Vehicle NVH Laboratory.

The Master of Engineering (International Automotive Engineering) promotes hands-on practice by incorporating a project that will enable you to apply the learned technologies to a real-world automotive system application.

This degree focuses on sustainable design and manufacturing practices based on the entire lifecycle (from 'cradle to grave') of vehicles. This incorporates the design for disposal and recycle, disassembly, lifecycle assessment, alternative fuels, and powertrains and light structures.

Through project-based learning and the exploration of real-life problems with industry peers, you’ll develop a comprehensive understanding of the product lifecycle and systems design of modern automobiles and associated technologies. You’ll also have the opportunity to complete work experience with multinational companies, enhancing your employment opportunities in the global job market.

  • Analytical chemistry (metabolomics, natural products extraction and identification), separation science (focus on gas and liquid chromatography), flow injection analysis and mass spectrometry)
