When you study visual arts at RMIT, you'll create a professional folio of work.

This diploma is taught by practicing artists in real studio environments. All our staff are practitioners with national and international reputation in the arts. This enables them to connect you to work on projects with industry, other practicing artists, and galleries.

This diploma offers both practical and theoretical subjects, which have been developed in conjunction with the arts industry. It is designed to prepare you for a career in the visual arts or other related creative fields.

On completion of the first year, you can transition to the Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts. This is also a one-year qualification, which allows you to further investigate your creative practice with a more specialised focus.

A major focus is the production of a professional folio of work that reflects your personal creativity. The folio will display a sequential development, with emphasis on the acquisition of skills and the adaptation of those skills to the production of artworks with a sound personal philosophical base.

This diploma has a strong focus on exhibition practice and providing practical experience in the arts industry. You will undertake independent studio practice and develop a wide-range of highly specialised technical, creative and conceptual skills and knowledge.

At RMIT we contend that research is conducted through designing and that the process of designing, as a means of increasing knowledge, parallels research in other areas in fascinating ways.

Research candidates are supported and engaged in communities of design practice where learning is fundamentally a social phenomenon; where knowledge is integrated in the life of these communities that share interests, discourses and ways of doing things.

The Master of Design may be undertaken in a project or thesis mode. This decision is made in consultation with your supervisor.

Your studies will focus on developing a sustainable systems approach, combining the fundamentals of sustainable systems design, engineering design, engineering mathematics and engineering science. In this dynamic, practical, industry-relevant course, you'll learn 2D and 3D design skills and the decorative aspect of design. You’ll delve into the exploration of colour, materials and finishes, interior construction techniques, soft furnishings, and fabrics and furniture. With research and practical tasks across historical and contemporary styles and trends, you’ll develop high-level documentation and technical skills in order to respond to professional briefs for both residential and commercial clients.

You'll develop a deeper understanding of commercial and residential interiors, spatial layout, furnishings and decorative treatments, and the documentation process.

As an interior designer, you will:

• Develop well-planned and functional spaces
• Decorate residential and commercial environments
• Draw sketches and produce samples of your design ideas
• Source paint colours, lighting, furniture and flooring
• Provide advice on soft and hard finishes, artwork, and accessories for an interior scheme.
• Provide on-site design and construction advice.

Through this course, your knowledge and skills will expand to allow you to create and communicate your design concepts, evaluate briefs and apply basic business skills to domestic and commercial projects.

The Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media (Directing) is delivered as part of a sequence, beginning with the Diploma of Screen and Media (Content Creation).

Upon satisfactory completion of the diploma you will be eligible to progress to the advanced diploma.

This advanced diploma gives you the broad base necessary to move ahead in the art, design, screen and media industries. RMIT is renowned as Australia's leader in screen, interactive and new media education. We'll provide you with a creative and supportive environment of artistic and intellectual investigation with great opportunities to forge industry connections.

Use your advanced research skills to contribute to new developments in radiotherapy, diagnostic medical procedures and health physics.

This program is assessed by both a research project and the completion of five courses.

The research project is in medical or health physics, and is examined by thesis.

The coursework is vocationally relevant to radiotherapy, diagnostic imaging, radiation protection and health physics, and is available in online mode.

You will complete Research Methods for Sciences in your first semester. Four other courses will be undertaken in subsequent semesters.

The program is accredited by the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM) as an approved postgraduate qualification forming a compulsory component of the requirements to become a certified medical physicist.

Research activities are conducted within related research institutes and groups including the Applied Electromagnetics and Radiation Physics Research Group.
