In the Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology - Electrical, you'll learn to design, validate, and evaluate electrical equipment and systems, as well as provide technical advice and sales.

Electrical engineers design and maintain electrical systems to improve the production and distribution of energy. As our society increasingly depends on electrical and electronic devices, electrical engineers are in high demand.

In your career as an electrical engineer, you will design and maintain electrical systems in areas like aerospace, power utilities, mining, oil and gas, wind and solar food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, data centres, transport and logistics, and many others.

You’ll gain skills in electrical design, programmable logic controllers, supervisory control and data acquisition systems, industrial data networking, and motor control. Following graduation, you’ll be qualified to work in the electrical industry.

The Master of Communication will build your strengths in understanding the fundamentals of communication in a changing media and industry landscape and provide valuable insight into current trends and practice.

The curriculum is delivered by a joint mix of academics and industry practitioners, giving you that balance across the theoretical and real-world application.

Sustainable systems engineering brings together the new technologies and innovative engineering approaches needed for sustainable global development.

In RMIT's Bachelor of Engineering (Sustainable Systems Engineering) (Honours), you'll learn how to protect, restore and create engineered and natural systems that are socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable.

As part of this systems engineering degree you’ll undertake a broad range of studies, graduating with the skills to design engineering solutions that meet the needs of society within economic and ecological constraints.

Your studies will focus on developing a sustainable systems approach, combining the fundamentals of sustainable systems design, engineering design, engineering mathematics and engineering science. Degree specialisations exist in renewable energy systems, energy efficiency and demand management, transport and logistics, and supply chain analytics.

This Qualification has been superseded by the Department of Education, Skills and Employment and will change in 2023.

You can still apply for this program and you will be supported to transfer into the new qualification once it becomes available. This may result in changes to the program structure, content and fees.

The Advanced Diploma of Accounting has been designed to equip you with the theoretical and technical skills required to pursue work in the varied accounting and financial services industries.

The skills you will learn in this diploma will include:

• Preparing financial statements for a non-reporting entity
• Preparing tax returns

The Associate Degree in Engineering has been designed to equip you with a broad theoretical and technical knowledge of the underlying principles of engineering. 

You will learn to analyse and interpret complex problems, communicate effectively to a range of stakeholders, and find effective solutions to the issues facing industry.

Offering six majors, you will get to choose to focus on mechanical, aerospace, advanced manufacturing and mechatronics, electrical and electronics, computer and network, or civil engineering. Each major will immerse you in the subject, giving you the specialist skills you need to pursue a career in your preferred area of engineering.

The Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) (Honours) supports and develops your capacity as a practicing artist and active researcher in the field of contemporary art.

This degree is designed for students who have successfully completed a three-year degree in contemporary art or craft, or an equivalent field, and who wish to undertake a further year of study to focus exclusively on an individual project.

At this level of study, you will engage with high-level intensive subjects, deepening and enriching your practice through expertise, knowledge and criticality.

You will be guided through personalised mentorship and individual supervision, as you are introduced to practice-led research and research methodologies.

A flexible curriculum provides opportunities for you to develop an individual project and to further your knowledge and capability for professional or highly skilled art practice, and/or further learning at a postgraduate level.

With advanced technical expertise and research skills, graduates of the Master of Food Science and Technology are fully-equipped to participate in the rapidly advancing field of food science and technology and apply their expertise in inter-disciplinary contexts.

You’ll develop skills and knowledge of food processing and preservation; chemical properties of food materials; food safety, packaging and labelling; and food product and process innovation. You will also undertake subjects to support the wide range of technical positions required by the food industry.
If your background is in science, engineering, agriculture or other related disciplines, the Master of Food Science and Technology is designed to provide professional training in this field. If you have previously completed studies in food science and technology, this degree will enhance and expand your knowledge in the area.

As a visual merchandiser or display designer in retail, events, exhibition or styling, you will maintain an organisation's image, service and merchandise to its customers and use your design talents to create stimulating and engaging spatial displays that promote products and services.

In your role you will:

• Create displays, stands and panels for exhibitions, conferences and other events
• Create window and in-store displays for retail shops and department stores
• Source elements such as lighting, props and accessories
• Work to a project brief and present concept designs to clients.

The major emphasis of this qualification is the design and production of commercial displays and the development of a folio of work that prepares you for a highly successful career as a creative individual.

You will design, develop and create displays using advanced construction and presentation techniques that use colour, lighting, space, photography, digital technologies, sensory inputs and interactive installations.

You'll learn in commercial retail, exhibition and event environments in world-class facilities. For example, in purpose-built studios, major street frontage windows and new media and digital display technologies.

This diploma has a hands-on, design-based curriculum that is monitored and delivered by experienced and practising professionals.

Practical workshops and outstanding industry connections help make this course the largest, most exciting and effective visual merchandising qualification of its kind in Australia.

The Master of Biotechnology focuses on the study of living systems to address challenges in the environment, health or food science.

Students will explore gene and protein technologies, bioinformatics, and various microbiology and food science disciplines, both in the classroom and via a strong component of hands-on laboratory practicals.

All students have the opportunity to analyse real-world data when they undertake a research project.
