At RMIT we contend that research is conducted through designing and that the process of designing, as a means of increasing knowledge, parallels research in other areas in fascinating ways.

Research candidates are supported and engaged in communities of design practice where learning is fundamentally a social phenomenon; where knowledge is integrated in the life of these communities that share interests, discourses and ways of doing things.

The Master of Design may be undertaken in a project or thesis mode. This decision is made in consultation with your supervisor.

On completion of this program you will have:

• A body of knowledge that includes the understanding of recent developments in 1 or more disciplines
• Advanced knowledge of research principles and methods applicable to the field of work or learning
• Cognitive skills to demonstrate mastery of theoretical knowledge and to reflect critically on theory and its application

• Communication and technical skills to present coherent and sustained argument and to disseminate research results to specialist and non-specialist audiences
• Technical and communication skills to design, evaluate, implement, analyse, theorise and disseminate research that makes a contribution to knowledge and/or professional practice.

This degree builds on the knowledge and skills necessary for critical and creative approaches to international business by providing advanced study in contemporary international business theory and practice that is supported by ethical and sustainable business decision-making. It will also provide you with the capacity to address the international regulation of business and critically evaluate the impacts of decisions and practice through case studies and interactive and experiential learning activities.

The Bachelor of Design (Animation and Interactive Media) looks at animation in all its forms, from the animated character to motion graphics across linear and interactive environments. Presented in a creative environment, this degree focuses on intellectual investigation and conceptual development.

Upon graduating, you will demonstrate aesthetic and intellectual maturity, as well as strong technical abilities within design, media and art disciplines.

Combining studies in urban planning and built environment with the social, economic, and political environment, the Master of Urban Planning and Environment equips you to shape efficient, practical, healthy, and sustainable cities.

Develop skills in critical analysis and draw from diverse sources to engage in professionally-relevant projects, conduct research, and promote effective policy outcomes. Benefit from practical and experiential learning, working on urban planning problems in the field, and consulting with industry.

Upon graduation, you will be eligible for membership of the Planning Institute of Australia.

This degree is offered online and face-to face. It is primarily taught through evening classes during the week, with some topics delivered through intensive full-day workshops. All core topics and some electives are also offered online in case students aren’t able to study face-to-face.
