The Bachelor of Science Advanced (Honours) caters for students who have demonstrated outstanding potential in the field of science. This degree follows the Bachelor of Science degree, giving you the opportunity to engage in research early by taking one Advanced Studies course each trimester.

You'll undertake a major research project and be individually guided and mentored by one or more of our outstanding scientific researchers. In your final year, you'll complete an honours project in your chosen specialisation. This double degree enables students to combine business management skills with a studio major, developing core competencies such as critical and analytical thinking, business communication and decision-making.

The Design program prepares graduates for diverse professional practice as designers through practical and theoretical learning. The first year focuses on the development of manual and technological skills, design thinking, problem-defining and solving. Students will gain an understanding of the changing role of design and how they can become leaders in the industry. In the following years, students work on industry-related and research projects and specialise in selected studio areas.

Graduates are skilled in creative design and software application and are able to effectively and efficiently manage creative ventures from a business perspective.

The Bachelor of Communication and Journalism/Bachelor of Science will combine the specialised disciplines of biological, clinical, chemical, physical and mathematical sciences with the skills and capacity to communicate these within various professions, and to the broader public. Alongside scientific expertise, graduates will emerge with a suite of communication, writing and media production skills that will add a critical dimension to their employability. Graduates of this double degree will better navigate the contemporary context for science where global communication and media are pervasive and increasingly a concern for emergent and existing science professionals. Graduates employed in diverse sectors alongside those choosing to pursue specialised science communication careers (including science journalism) will be accommodated by this degree combination.

This degree provides an alternative route for entry into a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) if you do not meet the entry requirements for direct admission.

When you complete this degree, you will be granted admission to an MPhil or PhD, providing you have fulfilled the entry requirements detailed in the Higher Degree Research policy and have completed the confirmation procedure. Your final grade will determine whether you are eligible for the PhD or MPhil.

You will undertake advanced study and supervised research work in the health discipline, defined by your undergraduate degree. In the coursework component, you will critically evaluate research and develop your knowledge and understanding of statistical analysis techniques as applied to health research. You will also develop an awareness of research proposal design and background. The Master of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) provides academic and pedagogical foundations for professionals who are or will be involved in work that focuses on the learning and teaching of English as a second or foreign language. The degree provides a qualification in the teaching of English in a variety of contexts with a strong focus on teaching in the Asia-Pacific region.

The program content is internationalised and intercultural, focusing on the development of a knowledge base and analytical skills that will enable graduates to operate in a range of roles involving the need to understand how second and foreign languages are learned.
