Engineers work in a range of roles across all different types of industries, from civil engineering to environmental, computer science to petroleum engineering – the possibilities are endless. The type of engineer you’ll become often depends on the specialisation you choose in this degree. This degree offers 19 engineering specialisations across different engineering disciplines.

In this degree you’ll gain a solid background in mathematics, natural sciences and computing that’ll prepare you to learn knowledge and skills in an engineering discipline. You’ll graduate with the technical knowledge, skills and attributes required to succeed as a professional engineer.

Chemical Product Engineering is the new frontier for chemical engineers. It incorporates the technical and entrepreneurial skills needed to innovate, develop and design new chemical and consumer products for large and small businesses.

Chemical Engineering has an emphasis on product design and development. A major focus in this field is on new materials and breakthrough technologies that overcome high costs and scarcity to create value-adding solutions. Chemical Engineers work in areas from cosmetics, drugs and solar cells to advance biomedical devices by identifying customer needs and creating products that meet those needs.

You'll build on the study of chemical and physical sciences and processes to create the types of products that can be commercialised in a number of fields such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, agricultural chemicals and foods. Through academic and project work as well as applying your skills during 60 days of approved industry training, you'll graduate with the tools and skills you need to create products across a wide range of industries.

UNSW’s Bachelor of Commerce/Arts is a double degree that will equip you with business experience and expertise, combined with the creativity, analytical and critical thinking skills that come with an arts degree. The Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) has been designed with consultation from industry to set you up for lifelong employability. Media, Intellectual Property & Technology Law
New media is becoming an increasingly dominant form of mass communication, challenging established frameworks with disruptive technology. Individuals from various backgrounds must now understand how the law affects and regulates their activities in this environment. Media laws influence how people communicate and how both old and new media operate. To cope with the regulatory impact of this increased reliance on the digital sphere, established legal doctrines such as defamation and privacy are being used in new ways. 

Meanwhile, intellectual property laws incentivise new creations, create value in the form of property with legally enforceable rights, and limit how others may access and use those creations. Fast-emerging developments such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), blockchain and bio-technologies raise questions about the legal rights and responsibilities that accompany the usage of new technologies. 

This Master of Laws specialisation develops a depth of knowledge through a strong theoretical and practical understanding of the different laws and regulatory issues that can arise in the context of new and old media, intellectual property and technology law.

The UNSW Bachelor of Criminology & Criminal Justice is a three-year full-time, or six-year part-time equivalent, undergraduate degree designed to critically explore the causes of crime, deviance, criminal behaviour, social control and the legal system.

This degree looks at the big picture of crime by bringing together cross-faculty knowledge from the School of Law, Society and Criminology and School of Social Sciences. Through innovative teaching that focuses on real-world case studies and experiences outside the classroom, you’ll gain critical insights into all aspects of the justice system.

Criminology and criminal justice are growing fields with increasing opportunities to create change in communities affected by crime and the social structures and systems in place that influence and respond to it. You’ll develop an understanding of historical and current issues, including drug policy, sexual and alcohol-related violence, organised crime and Indigenous mass incarceration. You'll also learn about key institutions of criminal justice including the police, courts and prison, and the impact they have in the community.
