What you'll learn
This degree is made up of 40 courses. You will do 24 courses in law and 16 courses in human resource management.

Laws (Honours)

As a UniSA Law student, you’ll gain valuable skills from day one, including in reasoning, reporting, analysis, negotiation, communication and advocacy. You will also experience what it's like to argue a case and provide legal advice.

Throughout your degree you will study core courses that teach you the fundamental legal concepts that underpin the Australian legal system. Courses such as torts, contracts, criminal law and constitutional law will give you a good understanding of basic legal principles.

Our Law program also features courses that build your leadership skills, intercultural communication, project management and capacity for community engagement.

You will have the opportunity to have practical learning experiences including mooting, negotiation, and witness examination. You will also engage in a Community Justice project, high-level research or an industry placement, ensuring you’ll be prepared for legal practice upon graduation.

Human Resource Management 

You will study core courses such as Management and Organisations, Business and Society and Career Development in Business. You will also learn the latest in specialist areas such as:

• Staffing, training and development
• Performance and compensation management
• Management of industrial relations

Communication Design (often referred to as Visual Communication or Graphic Design) involves creating innovative identities, messages, ideas and images that inform, motivate and educate across a range of sectors, from logo and identity design, to posters, apps and package design. Communication Design contributes to contemporary society through visual strategy, problem solving and design research in various areas of communication.

This degree has been the starting point for many of the country’s leading communication and graphic designers, and it will prepare you for a vibrant career in the design industry. Taught by established academics and designers, you will graduate with an industry-relevant qualification.

A focus on practical learning integrated with design thinking means you will gain the skills and knowledge needed to design stimulating, effective visual communications, and the confidence to create across a range of communication platforms and contexts.

• The Bachelor of Design (Communication Design) is practice-based, involving creative and critical thinking integrated with craft and technical skills. Throughout this degree, you will learn how to respond effectively to communication problems through design as you develop the skills to articulate ideas and approaches to work independently and in a team.

This one-year Honours degree (or two years part-time) will introduce you to high-level research and help you develop the skills necessary to engage in rigorous research and analysis in your selected creative discipline. What you'll learn
You will learn skills necessary for conducting research in disciplines including Contemporary Art, Communication Design, Illustration Animation, Product Design, Cultural Studies, Film and Television, Journalism and Professional Writing, Communication and Media, Creative Writing, Social Media, Screen Studies and more. You will apply these skills to frame and develop your own research project, producing an outcome that responds to your research questions, project aims and objectives. Outcomes are visual and/or written, as appropriate for your disciplinary focus and project. Throughout your research studies you will be supervised by experienced research academics.
 

The Master of Management (Business Analytics) will equip you with the knowledge and skills to become a data-driven decision maker at a managerial level, in any industry. You will develop the confidence and expertise to pull valuable insights from complex organisational data using various business analytics solutions.

This degree combines management theory with business intelligence. You will gain an in-depth understanding of advanced data analytics for business and study specialised areas such as machine learning for business professionals and data visualisation and communication. You will explore the latest data analytics techniques and delve into the future of big data. 

What you'll learn
The Master of Management (Business Analytics) comprises of 12 courses. You will complete four management courses, and six Business Analytics specialisation courses.

Advance your knowledge and skills in contemporary management practice. Develop your expertise in core areas such as business ethics, business analytics, leadership and performance, and strategic thinking. Learn how to effectively manage organisations and achieve key business objectives.

You will develop skills and expertise in areas that include:

• machine learning for business professionals

What you'll learn

In your law studies you can undertake a Community Justice Project, practice advocacy and negotiation, or gain industry experience through participation in our Legal Advice Clinic or a professional placement. You’ll also be involved in mock-trials in our moot court, learning what it’s like to act as an advocate and argue a case before a judge. 

In your tourism and event management studies you will prepare for a fast-paced career in these growing industries. You’ll develop an understanding of the field from a global perspective, and study a broad range of practical, real-world issues with a chance to get involved in running events.

You will study core courses such as Business and Society, Management and Organisation and Marketing Principles: Trading and Exchange. You will also learn the latest in specialist areas such as:

• Marketing, service management and new technologies in tourism, events and hospitality

• Policy and planning for sustainable tourism

Hands-on teaching and learning is a focus of this degree, and as a contemporary art student you will have access to a comprehensive range of facilities in custom-built studios and workshops. Alongside these are studies in art history, theory, and courses in how to grow your career and opportunities to connect with industry partners in the City West cultural precinct. A key feature of the degree is its flexibility. Students can choose to focus on the development of hand skills or opt for a more multidisciplinary pathway through the program.
