This is a double degree program that targets the wide application of information technology in Business providing a well rounded education in two disciplines.

Human Resource Management

The Human Resource Management Major is designed for people who seek careers in human resource management and industrial relations.

The Bachelor of Laws program satisfies the academic degree requirements for admission to practice as an Australian lawyer. Students will engage in collaborative face-to-face problem and case-based learning, will be supported by online learning materials, and will participate in authentic assessment to develop knowledge and skills.

In the Bachelor of Communication, through classwork, independent study and engagement with the multicultural nature of our communities, students develop an understanding of the local and international relevance of their chosen studies, with opportunities to develop and produce a range of media outcomes as applied research and professional projects throughout their studies. The Bachelor of Laws provides students with a broad progressive legal education with a strong practical orientation to the law. Students will also develop skills in legal advocacy, negotiation, and legal technology and extend their professional and learning experiences through work integrated learning, clinical placement and international exchange engagements.

The Bachelor of Laws provides you with professional skills including: the ability to analyse legal material and understand fundamental legal principles; an understanding of the relationship between law and society; the skills to analyse and solve legal and non-legal problems and specialised study into the Australian legal system.

The Bachelor of Communication encompasses a wide range of subjects in the field of communication and media with a core program of media studies, practices and theory, and specialised major sequences in advertising, journalism, public relations and media arts production.

Public Affairs

The Public Relations major covers the skills and knowledge required in the profession of public relations, including event management, issues and crisis management and campaign development.

The major focuses on the role of the public relations practitioner or adviser and provides a theoretical framework of the industry. Students engage with both theory and practical projects and complete an internship placement.

Entertainment Computing

This major will deal with a comprehensive focus on the technical and theoretical knowledge of design, development and deployment of software applications in the field of Entertainment Computing.

Students must maintain a grade point average of 5 or above to remain in the program. Those who do not maintain this average will be transferred to the Bachelor of Information and Communications Technology.

The Bachelor of Accounting holds triple accreditation with CPA (Certified Public Accountant) Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand (CAANZ), and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA). Depending on your majors, you’ll also be eligible to become a member of the Financial Planning Association or register with the Tax Practitioners Board as a tax agent.

Financial Planning and Taxation

The Financial Planning and Taxation Major is available to participants enrolled in the Bachelor of Accounting. The specialised subjects in this major analyse contemporary issues relevant to financial planning and taxation using case studies and discussion.

The subjects is designed to meet the requirements for admission to the CFP program of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) for those seeking a career in that profession.

This major satisfies the accreditation requirements of the Financial Planning Association (FPA). Completion of this major also meets the RG146 generic knowledge requirements, specialist knowledge requirements and skills requirements as they currently stand.

The Bachelor of Physiotherapy focuses on the relationship between the therapist and the client. This program will provide you with a thorough understanding of the technical aspects of physiotherapy, as well as the capacity to work successfully with colleagues and patientsWestern’s Physiotherapy program takes a strong evidence-based approach to health sciences teaching, learning and research, to produce professionals who can truly help clients and communities to lead healthier lives. When you graduate, you will have the skills you need to pursue a physiotherapy career in a range of health settings including private practice, aged care, private and public hospitals, rehabilitation and chronic health management. Career settings also include community-based agencies, rural and regional healthcare providers, and working with athletes and sporting organisations.

Forensic science

This major provides students specialised expertise in forensic science including methods of forensic analysis, crime scene investigation, forensic photography, forensic investigation, crime and criminal justice and complex cases. Career opportunities include forensic scientists, crime scene investigators, private investigators and consultants, police officers, drug analysts, researchers and academics, and specialised forensic science practitioners. The main employers of forensic scientists are State and Federal police services, State and Commonwealth Government Health Departments and analytical chemistry laboratories. Graduates will be versatile with a wide skills base with (depending on their choice of electives) potential for employment in analytical chemistry and microbiology, quality control and assurance, biochemistry and molecular biology, scientific research, education and the chemical industry.

The Sport Management major is designed for people who seek careers in Australian and international Sport management.
