The courses offered in the program range from the Renaissance Italy to the end of the Roman world, from Iceland to Byzantium and from analysis of Chaucer, Dante and Shakespeare to the reading of Latin literature, from music to the architecture and art of the particular period. The students can enroll in the Bachelor of Arts in Humanities under the Faculty of Humanities and then may choose their major after exploring the various courses in the first year.

The Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies offers a combined major program leading to a BA (Honors or Pass) and Minor for students in other disciplines and develops their skills in analysis, argument, critical inquiry and expression.

Our program focuses on individual, community and population health and wellness with an emphasis on health promotion, health administration, health policy and health programming and evaluation.

Students will learn about the biological, mental, social and environmental determinants of health. The program also familiarizes them with emerging health issues both locally and globally.

This program is for those who have already completed a university degree. The program is four semesters, taken over two academic years, allowing students time to learn, reflect and grow as beginning teachers.
Completion of the program leads to a BEd degree and an Ontario Certificate of Qualification and Registration. Programs are at campuses in both St. Catharines and Hamilton.
Teacher Education programs at Brock embrace the integration of theory and practice.
Students are placed in partner schools very early in their program. They move through a planned course of study, including in excess of 80 days in Ontario classrooms. With a focus on pedagogy reflective of 21st century learners, Brock teacher candidates have opportunities to personalize their learning through optional professional development courses, and may qualify for an alternative placement experience in their final year.
Instruction in professional practice takes place under the supervision of practicum advisers, practicum instructors and associate teachers, working with teacher candidates
in schools throughout the Niagara and the greater Hamilton regions and beyond.

Speech Language & Hearing Sciences: Learn about basic science and communication processes, including the anatomy and physiology of speech and hearing, acoustics, linguistics, child language development and selected disorders of human communication. Concentrate in Hearing Sciences and learn about sound, hearing, and hearing disorders, and prepare for admission to graduate audiology programs. Concentrate in Speech-Language Sciences and learn about speech, language, and speech and language disorders, and prepare for admission to speech-language pathology graduate programs.

The study of Political Science aims to teach students how to focus on the ideas, institutions and processes that shape our lives, helping them to become better members and effective leaders of the Canadian political community.

In Canadian Politics, Comparative Politics and International Relations, you’ll examine power relationships and the organization of power within and among states. The study of Public Policy asks how policies are made and implemented in the complex machinery of government. Political Theory/ Philosophy asks how power ought to be organized and to what end.

Study the cultural production, reception, and interpretation of the fine and performing arts.

You’ll examine and relate elements of Visual Arts, Dramatic Arts, Music, Dance, Interactive Arts and Science, Media and Communication Studies, Popular Culture, Film Studies and Canadian Studies. You may sample from these diverse disciplines to create a customized program.

The concentration in Cultural Management, with courses from the Goodman School of Business, is ideal for those wishing to work as cultural managers in diverse fields of arts and culture.

A cooperation between STAC, History and Geography/Tourism Studies, the concentration in Cultural Transmission and Heritage Studies engages students in cross-disciplinary curatorial projects.

The concentration in Languages, Arts and Culture allows you to combine language acquisition (French, German, Italian, Spanish) in the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures with interdisciplinary work in arts and culture.

Our program is designed to meet the needs of a rapidly evolving industry, incorporating principles of sustainability (economic, environmental, social and political) in tourism management and planning. Within the Department of Geography and Tourism Studies, our program examines such questions as: Can we balance the economic benefits of tourism with the negative consequences of pollution, loss of biodiversity, economic inequality and unsuitable cultural change?

The Master of Science in Material Physics International Student Program (ISP) provides intensive hands-on graduate training in advanced experimental, theoretical, and computational techniques of modern materials science. The program aims to prepare highly knowledgeable and skilled graduates, who will be trained as materials physicists and can work as independent workers or in collaboration with others, to fill jobs in industry, government agencies, research institutes and universities worldwide. The program includes an intensive English preparation program.

This program explores issues in popular culture from a multidisciplinary perspective. You’ll take a series of critical and historical courses examining a wide range of mass-mediated and non-mass-mediated forms of popular culture.

These include television, popular music, gaming, advertising, social media, sports, fairs and carnivals, literature, and film in their political, historical, economic and aesthetic contexts. Courses in communication, film, Canadian studies and politics will give you an excellent understanding of the world of popular forms, both contemporary and historical.

The Certificate in Administrative Studies (CAS) is right for you if you:

• Would like to go on to an MBA or MBA (ISP) program but your grades do not meet the minimum admission requirements. The CAS will provide students with an opportunity to create a recent academic record.
