The Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures offers this interdisciplinary program as a combined major.

Courses are taught in English and cover the literatures and cultures of Western Europe, as well as Romance Linguistics. French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish texts are read in translation and assignments are completed in English.

LCBE prepares graduates for positions in community-based educational settings with internships and an introduction to Canadian workplace practices.

LCBE courses are designed to provide essential knowledge about educational theories and leadership practices and to develop critical communication and collaboration skills, preparing the student to seek employment in community-based education settings or pursue advanced post-secondary studies in Canada.

This exciting mathematics program is flexible, innovative and provides opportunities for students to work with leading researchers to gain academic and employment experience.

Choose from a broad range of courses or concentrations in pure mathematics (development of mathematical ideas and concepts for their own sake), applied mathematics (mathematics for applications in science, engineering, economics or business), statistics (experimental design, sampling methods and data analysis techniques), MICA (mathematics coupled with modern computer software applications) or mathematics education.

For exceptional students, there is also an Accelerated Mathematics Studies stream where you can complete a four-year honours degree in any concentration in as little as three years.

Study Geography in Niagara – one of the world’s most diverse social and natural landscapes.

Geographers look at the world from a unique perspective, one that bridges the social and natural sciences. Our programs are designed to combine theory and practical experience to train you in Human Geography, Physical Geography, and Geomatics.

Human Geography aims to understand the human world and its interaction with physical, built and symbolic landscapes. This knowledge is used to work towards more equitable societies.

Physical Geography aims to explain the geographic pattern of weather and climate, landform development and their interactions with the biosphere. This is done by studying processes at the Earth’s surface and how they interact with, affect and are affected by human activities.

Geomatics includes scientific and technological activities that integrate various fields, including cartography, remote sensing and geographical information systems (GIS).

Our department has been blending theory and practice for more than five decades through experiential learning in labs, seminars, field courses, internships and much more. These experiences have been developed to help you apply what you learn in class outside the classroom walls.

Professors in our programs engage in a broad range of research activities and incorporate interactive elements into their courses. This often includes spending time outside of the classroom around campus and across Niagara.

Brock is the only university in Canada granting a specialized Bachelor of Sport Management (BSM) degree. Our program has an outstanding reputation within the sport industry for the quality of our students and graduates.

We offer a cutting-edge program where you’ll thrive through academic challenges and experiential learning opportunities. Our focus is on the application of theory, principles and practices of business to the sport industry. Field placements and internships in your third and fourth years offer significant career-building experiences.

At graduation, you’ll be prepared to be hired directly into the sport industry or to pursue postgraduate studies in the Arts, Business or Law. The Distinct and Diverse Communities program involves courses offered through Brock University and Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology. This four-year program combines either an Honours Bachelor of Arts (BA) Distinct and Diverse Communities or a BA With Major Distinct and Diverse Communities at Brock with training in a variety of applied social service settings at the colleges.

Students obtain both solid applied skills and a strong theoretical foundation in a variety of aspects of social services. The program leads to career opportunities in a wide variety of areas in the social services for Immigrants and Refugees in the Province of Ontario. At Brock, students complete an integrated series of courses from a wide variety of disciplines. At Seneca students complete the Social Service Worker - Immigrants and Refugees program. Obtaining both an Honours BA or BA with Major and a college diploma would ordinarily involve at least five years of study, but this Brock-Seneca program combines the two in a single integrated package that can be completed in four years. Enrolment is limited.

Brock University offers the first Bachelor of Public Health degree in Canada and equips the students with the skills and knowledge required to manage the upcoming issues in Public health, learn about the social, environmental and biological determinants of health issues and explore disease prevention and health promotion strategies.

The students study chronic and emerging health issues, and diseases in the developing and developed countries and the program focuses on the health and wellness of the individual, the community and the population as a whole with emphasis on health policy, health administration, health promotion and health programming and evaluation.

The program offers multiple opportunities to the students for internships with community partners, international study placements, self-directed study, research experiences and internships where they can apply their skills to developing public health programs and policies, conducting health research and planning, implementing, and managing disease prevention and health promotion programs.

You’ll be on the forefront of research in this exciting and knowledge-based industry. You’ll take courses in biological sciences, chemistry, biochemistry and biotechnology, exploring the use of living organisms to produce goods and services for practical and industrial purposes.

Career opportunities in biotechnology are expanding rapidly due to a dramatic increase in global market demands for biotechnology products.

As a modern biotechnologist, you’ll study areas such as recombinant DNA technology, genetic and protein engineering, cell fusion, and gene cloning and expression.

Are you interested in how children acquire language, how the skills of second-language speakers develop, how various language disorders can be diagnosed and treated, or how social or cultural environments interact with language?

Speech Language & Hearing Sciences: Learn about basic science and communication processes, including the anatomy and physiology of speech and hearing, acoustics, linguistics, child language development and selected disorders of human communication. Concentrate in Hearing Sciences and learn about sound, hearing, and hearing disorders, and prepare for admission to graduate audiology programs. Concentrate in Speech-Language Sciences and learn about speech, language, and speech and language disorders, and prepare for admission to speech-language pathology graduate programs.

The Earth Sciences program trains geoscientists — scientists who study the Earth and other planets in order to better understand their origin and history.

We know the Earth’s history reasonably well, and that knowledge has helped us to discover natural resources, such as oil and gas, economic minerals and metals, and to understand phenomena, such as global climate change and volcano and earthquake hazards. The geological knowledge derived from the Earth also helps us to better understand other solar system bodies. Two of our professors are planetary geologists, including Dr. Mariek Schmidt who is a member of NASA’s Mars Science Laboratory Project that operates the rover Curiosity as it explores Gale Crater.

Brock’s program is designed to comply with the educational requirements for initial registration as a geoscientist-in-training, the licensing classification that leads to the PGeo designation established by the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario.
