The Bachelor of Motion Picture Arts is a baccalaureate program spanning for a length of four years and offered by the School of Motion Picture Arts. In this program, students are taught a number of things such as theoretical and technical knowledge about the field, development of critical skills, practical experiences with people from the industry and state of the art equipment for practical purposes. The Bosa Centre for Film and Animation is used for students to interact with professionals from the field of motion picture arts.

This way a student has the opportunity of learning and choosing from different areas of filmmaking. The up-to-date professional equipment that includes an 8000 sq. ft. sound stage, 3D camera rigs and a 3D editing lab open for students to use and work on. 

Capilano University has an Associate of Science Degree program that is offered by the School of Arts & Science. Once students graduate from the AD program they can choose to continue their education by pursuing a bachelor’s degree and furthering their education. This program prepares students by providing them salubrious education in the field of science and providing them with the best kind of academic counseling.

Under the Associate of Science degree, students can gain valuable practical experience through an internship. This helps students gain professional experience and hence prepare them for the future. The Associate of Science program is a 60 credit points program and once students complete their degree they can transfer these credits and seek admission in a full-fledged program under several great British Columbia universities. 

The North American Business Management Post Baccalaureate program (NABU) builds knowledge about how to do business in North America for students from around the world.

This program gives international students and new permanent residents an opportunity to gain North American business credentials and hands-on work experience. Study North American management practices, selecting from four specializations: marketing, human resources, international strategy & entrepreneurship and finance & investment. Learn business skills from instructors with extensive industry expertise, and expand your connections during a two-month practicum with a North American organization.

This program is designed to develop the future managers and leaders in the global hospitality and tourism industries. You'll learn from award-winning faculty, training in key areas of Canadian and international tourism management, including revenue management, tourism planning and policy, service management, convention management, hotel operations, and cross-cultural tourism.

As part of this 16-month diploma, you'll participate in a 280-hour practicum (more information in Application Details), working in the hospitality area of your interest. Upon graduation, you may be eligible to apply for a three-year Post Graduate Work Permit.

Learning Outcomes

• Describe the motion picture production process and demonstrate an introductory understanding of the roles of producer, director, production designer, writer and various crew positions on the set.
• Successfully demonstrate at an entry level the scripting, development, production design, pre-production, production, post-production and delivery of short dramatic narrative independent films in a collaborative manner utilizing professional standard communication skills, protocols and techniques.
• Apply appropriate management practices and procedures including the computational, intuitive, creative and technical skills involved in screenplay development, breakdown, scheduling and budgeting for small-scale projects.
• Demonstrate keys to success, including attitude, teamwork, set etiquette, human/public relations, professional behaviour and self-marketing in the established and emerging motion picture industry sectors.
• Understand how aesthetic engagement can enable them to make cultural contributions through the effective use of media.

The Diploma in Digital Visual Effects is a two year long undergraduate certificate program at Capilano University, School of Motion Picture Arts. The students of this program are trained and educated to design visual effects for films and television. With faculty members from high-end film, broadcast and software companies, Capilano University has excellent staff members who guide and advise the student at every step of the way during the course. 

The students of the Visual Effects diploma are required to work in collaboration with professionals from numerous other fields such as film, documentary, animation, costuming and cinematography programs for an even richer experience. Capilano University provides a diploma in Classical Music which spans for 24 months. This two year program offers students a wholesome and creative environment to nurture their potential. This program is a unified whole of theoretical, historical as well as performance studies. Students are taught a number of instruments such as piano, voice, guitar, strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion and composition.

This two year diploma is a transferable program and students can get transferred to a Bachelor’s Degree in Music or a post graduate degree in Music Education and Liberal Arts. Many of the music diploma students transfer to the third year in Music Therapy program.
