The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree offered through the Department of Business and Administration is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in business, in the private, public or non-profit sectors. We nurture socially conscious business leaders and entrepreneurs that are capable of adapting to the ever-changing needs of the modern business world.

The Business and Administration program develops critical thinking, analytic and decision-making abilities, oral and written communication skills, and the self-confidence to effectively apply these skills. Some courses in the program are taught using the case method, a simulation of real business situations from the perspective of the actual decision-maker. Computer-based simulations, experiential exercises, guest speakers, and field trips are also used to connect course material to the business world.

The three-year BBA is an excellent complement to a major or degree in another field and is intended to be readily accessible as a part of a double degree program upon completion of additional coursework.

 The East Asian region constitutes one of the most dynamic and intellectually rich regions in the world. The impact of East Asian economic development has been keenly felt in recent decades and the region has a major impact on world affairs. The legacy of East Asian history, religious and social values, literatures, etc., is a major factor in current affairs in the region, and this legacy will continue to shape our global future.

The EALC program is devoted to the study of East Asian cultures. The program introduces students to East Asian cultures and societies through two components: a) the study of East Asian languages (Chinese—Mandarin and Classical, and Japanese), and b) the study of East Asian cultures through a multi-disciplinary approach (Religious Studies, History, Literature, Cinema, Economics, International Development Studies). A unique feature of the program is its focus on the intellectual legacy of East Asian cultures, introduced through the study of texts and ideas in the historical and cultural contexts that shaped them. The rationale for this focus is a belief that just as East Asian economies are having a global impact beyond the East Asian region, intellectual beliefs and cultural habits will challenge hitherto global presuppositions regarding accepted practices and habits of thought.

The EALC program is administered through the Department of Religion & Culture. Graduates who are interested in careers related to East Asia in fields such as education, government, and business benefit greatly from courses in East Asian Languages & Cultures.

Why do people think, feel, perceive, and behave the way they do? Psychologists seek to find answers to these questions by studying the human mind and behaviour. The Psychology program, explores topics ranging from the basic nervous system to principles of perception, learning, and cognition to gain an understanding of both social and clinical psychology.

This innovative joint program with Red River College will provide an opportunity for individuals to earn both a Diploma in Indigenous Studies Administration from Red River College, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Indigenous Studies from The University of Winnipeg.

Students who complete the Diploma in Indigenous Studies Administration at Red River College are given 30 credit hours towards a Bachelors of Arts degree in Indigenous Studies at the University of Winnipeg. This could be the equivalent of a three-year degree, a four-year degree, or an honours degree.

Students who begin at The University of Winnipeg will take a number of courses at Red River College. Some courses must be taken at The University of Winnipeg, some at Red River College, and some can be taken at either institution. Students may begin the joint program at The University of Winnipeg or Red River College in a part-time or full-time capacity.

This degree focuses on the prevention and care of muscle, bone and joint injuries as they occur in sport, recreation, fitness and in the workplace. Students will learn to assess the cause and severity of an injury and provide the most effective rehabilitation and return to sport/recreation/work protocol.

The interdisciplinary field of Conflict Resolution Studies deals with the nature and dynamics of human conflict. It explores topics of violence, power, justice, peace, communication and culture, as well as personal, local, and global conflict. You can choose from courses in a variety of different subject areas, and complete a practicum program in either a local or international setting as part of your university education. This major is offered through Menno Simons College.

If you enjoy thinking about life’s big questions, you might be a natural philosopher. Philosophy engages in disciplined and imaginative thinking about the philosophical questions common to all humans by studying the works of great philosophers. Through analysis and discussion, you’ll learn how to think critically, and understand the origins of the ideas that influence us today.

Philosophy is literally the love of wisdom. Rather than studying a particular aspect of human history or culture, philosophy takes a step back and tries to understand the nature of all inquiry. Students of philosophy examine fundamental beliefs about who we are and the world we live in – beliefs most people take to be true but never examine systematically and critically. Philosophers consider such questions as: What is the meaning of life? How should I live my life? Why be moral? What is the best form of government? Are human beings immortal? Does God exist? What is knowledge? Does the world appear to us as it really is? What makes something right, or good, or beautiful?

If coming to an understanding of the human condition is the goal of a liberal arts education, then philosophy is essential to it. But philosophy also has a practical side, which we see whenever we debate social and political questions concerning the environment and our obligations to future generations, the distribution of wealth and opportunity in society, gender equity, the relationship between science and religion, and so on. Philosophy helps us to identify and defend what is most valuable to us.

The UW Philosophy Program prides itself on being small and student-focused; this is a place where you can work closely with professors and other students in small classes, reading great philosophers from the past, and thinking and writing about the big questions.

Exploring the past helps us understand the complexities of the present, and anticipate the challenges of the future. As a student of History, you will explore the careers of major figures such as Galileo, Gandhi and Stalin.. You’ll improve your ability to evaluate evidence and learn how to present your interpretations in clear and logical written and oral arguments.

The Information Systems (IS) stream is aimed at students interested in focusing on information and business needs of IT industry. The new stream is intended to prepare students in information oriented courses, and also in system and Internet based technologies. Sample courses include: Internet programming, database design and development, software requirements and design, telecommunications, business application systems and eCommerce. One advantage of this stream is that students can easily combine this stream as a double major with another department for a Bachelors degree in arts or science.

Lead the way in this brand-new, industry-aligned program. Graduates get the hands-on skills and knowledge needed to manage, organize, and run supply chain functions. From logistics to procurement, knowledge management to global sourcing, students cover all aspects of the supply chain management field, being challenged to apply theory to the practical workplace. Delivered by industry experts and supported by the Supply Chain Management Association - Manitoba (SCMA-MB), this program offers students an educational experience rooted in real-world experience and current industry needs.

OBJECTIVES & OUTCOMES
The Supply Chain Management Diploma program prepares graduates to work as at the management level in the supply chain field, providing a comprehensive foundation in the theory and practices of supply chain management based on the best practices and industry standards in Canada.
