The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree offered through the Department of Business and Administration is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in business, in the private, public or non-profit sectors. We nurture socially conscience business leaders and entrepreneurs that are capable of adapting to the ever-changing needs of the modern business world.

The Business and Administration program develops critical thinking, analytic and decision-making abilities, oral and written communication skills, and the self-confidence to effectively apply these skills. Some courses in the program are taught using the case method, a simulation of real business situations from the perspective of the actual decision-maker. Computer-based simulations, experiential exercises, guest speakers, and field trips are also used to connect course material to the business world.  A new co-op work study program allows students to add career real work experience to their UW Degree. This program gives you an opportunity to study the rich heritage of the Mennonites and their contribution to society. Mennonite Studies is an interdisciplinary program that combines studies in history, religion, culture, and literature as they relate to Mennonites.

A major in Mennonite Studies focuses on the Mennonites' culture of nonviolence, history of migration, and struggle to define themselves as an ethno-religious group.

The Department of Kinesiology and Applied Health at The University of Winnipeg is student-centred with small classes and labs and accessible professors. Our professors have expertise and research interests in areas that include adapted physical activity, physical activity and aging, sports nutrition, coaching, sport and exercise psychology, motor behaviour, exercise physiology, biomechanics and prevention, care and treatment of muscle, bone and joint injuries.

Professionals in the field of Kinesiology are interested in increasing physical activity participation, enhancing sport performance,development of physical literacy, the technical and tactical aspects of coaching, the short and long term effects of exercise and the effect of physical activity on society.  Our mission is to provide an environment where students can pursue their potential through our commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and community service.

Economics analyzes how societies provide for their well-being, and examines the choices and tradeoffs that are made in the face of limited resources. You’ll study the competition and cooperation that arises among individuals, private organizations, and governments in the process of allocating scarce resources for a variety of different uses. Economics also offers insight into politics, law, history, environment, and development.

One may obtain the Economics Major through the 3-Year BA, the 4-Year BA or the BA Honours degree program. Some of the courses we offer are recommended for interdisciplinary programs, and it is common for other departments in the University to require or recommend certain Economics courses. The BA in Economics is highly recommended for students planning to go into law, accounting, or business studies.

Applied computer science is the study of how and where computers work. It includes designing hardware and software, building database and operating systems, and programming for the internet. UWinnipeg’s program covers each of these areas, giving you an understanding of how they connect to create vast networks. In the four-year major, you’ll gain practical experience and build teamwork skills as you take on a team-based software project for a local IT company.

Applied Computer Science - Health Informatics Stream
The Health Informatics(HI) stream provides students with more focused courses in Health information needs, infrastructure, standards, and jurisdiction. This stream has been designed in close cooperation with Manitoba e-Health. The HI stream includes upper year courses to address specific needs of the Health industry, e.g., Health Care information requirements and standards, regulatory environment, clinical terminologies, standards and professional practice. The HI stream complements offerings of the ACS department, and gives students flexibility of combining all three areas of IT, Business, and Health.

Political Science is the systematic study of power, authority and governance that helps us understand and engage in the important processes and institutions that structure our lives.

Whether we are conscious of it or not, politics affects our lives on a daily basis and in a vast number of ways. How we identify and think of ourselves, the activities we are permitted and encouraged to participate in, and how resources are allocated throughout society are all issues that Political Scientists study. Our Department offers a wide range of courses that examine the institutional, historical, ideological and economic aspects that frame our society. They consider such problems as relations between nation-states; the movement, cooperation and interactions of groups of people across state borders; the interactions between state and society; the nature of power and authority; and the impact of such things as political parties, interest groups, social classes and other societal organizations.

Political Science faculty members at The University of Winnipeg are committed to high quality teaching that draws on their own research expertise. We see our job as more than just teaching, but also mentoring and fostering a vibrant atmosphere of intellectual discussion and investigation. You can choose from a wide variety of courses within the following five streams: Global Politics; Political Thought; Law, Public Administration, and Public Policy; Canadian and Comparative Politics; City and Community Politics.

Environmental Studies and Sciences combines many different perspectives to understand the changes in our environment, while acknowledging human impacts and providing a framework to develop solutions for environmental programs. You can choose your course of study from six different subject areas including Chemistry, Forest Ecology, Forest Policy and Management, Global Environmental Systems, Issues in Sustainability, and Urban Environments

Stream C is a joint program offered by the University of Winnipeg (UW) and Red River College (RRC) or the Université de St. Boniface (USB). By combining the resources of both UW and either RRC or USB, students are able to earn both a two-year diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE) and a three-year Bachelor of Arts degree in Developmental Studies (Child Development and Child Care) in a four-year period of full-time study. Graduates of this stream are eligible for the highest classification: Early Childhood Education (ECE) III from the Manitoba Department of Families (Early Learning and Child Care Program). The UW offers the only degree-granting professional program in Early Childhood Education in Manitoba.

Stream C prepares graduates for a variety of positions, including child-care specialists who function as centre directors, supervisors and early childhood educators; and staff specializing in programs for the developmentally delayed and care for children with additional learning needs

The Information Systems (IS) stream is aimed at students interested in focusing on information and business needs of IT industry. The new stream is intended to prepare students in information oriented courses, and also in system and Internet based technologies. Sample courses include: Internet programming, database design and development, software requirements and design, telecommunications, business application systems and eCommerce. One advantage of this stream is that students can easily combine this stream as a double major with another department for a Bachelors degree in arts or science.

Our program has been designed so that students will acquire enough skills and knowledge to work in different sectors as a data scientist or data analyst. Our students will be able to have great contributions to make optimal decisions and strategies through analysing huge and unstructured data that are growing every day.
