The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree offered through the Department of Business and Administration is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in business, in the private, public or non-profit sectors. We nurture socially conscience business leaders and entrepreneurs that are capable of adapting to the ever-changing needs of the modern business world.

The Business and Administration program develops critical thinking, analytic and decision-making abilities, oral and written communication skills, and the self-confidence to effectively apply these skills. Some courses in the program are taught using the case method, a simulation of real business situations from the perspective of the actual decision-maker. Computer-based simulations, experiential exercises, guest speakers, and field trips are also used to connect course material to the business world.  A new co-op work study program allows students to add career real work experience to their UW Degree.

Bachelor of Business Administration (4 years):-

The four-year BBA prepares students for managerial work and also for further study in business administration such as an MBA or other graduate degree program.  In the four-year program, you can (and many students do) elect to take a 'general stream' degree, which allows maximum flexibility for course selection. Other students elect to narrow their studies into their choice of five Areas of Concentration:

• Marketing
• International Business
• Co-operative Enterprises
• Accounting
• Human Resource Management & Organisational Behaviour

It is not unusual for students to pursue two Concentrations simultaneously (e.g., Marketing and International Business) in our four-year program.

Urban and Inner-City Studies is an interdisciplinary Major concerned with the examination of the city as a dynamic environment. Our unique location serves as a gateway for north end residents to enter the University of Winnipeg and as a place for the larger UWinnipeg student body to connect to and learn from the north end community. The program combines a traditional urban studies focus with courses that examine various aspects of the inner city, such as the urban Aboriginal experience, the immigrant and refugee experience, and the role of women. In Canada, cities continue to be centres of great challenge: from managing suburban growth to promoting inner-city revitalization; from responding to the opportunities and concerns created by rapidly changing demographics, to those created by globalization and socio-economic change. Cities are also home to increased concentrations of poverty and social and political exclusion. The Urban and Inner-City Studies program provides an opportunity to examine the political, economic, social and spatial context of these and many other important aspects of urban change from an interdisciplinary perspective.

Student will study the interrelationship between human physiology and anatomy with respect to movement. The exercise science degree includes the understanding of the integration of structure and function of the human systems (e.g. musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, etc.) and the changes or adaptations causes by physical activity/exercise. 

Developmental Studies (DS) is a distinct field that draws on the integration of the perspectives and methods of many disciplines to provide a coherent analysis of the biological, environmental, and social factors that influence both individual and group development. As such, it has specific relevance to a growing number of occupations and professions, notably child care, gerontology, and family studies.

The Developmental Studies Program is an interdisciplinary major composed of offerings from a variety of Departments and programs. The DS program includes courses from Anthropology, Biology, Business and Administration, Conflict Resolution Studies, Education, English, Kinesiology and Applied Health, Politics, Psychology, Sociology, and Statistics.

Developmental Studies is well known for:-

• early learning research and publications;
• developing leaders and managers in inclusive early-childhood care and education;
• an established degree program in early childhood management and leadership, that is CCEPAC approved;
• its unique articulation program with Red River College and Université de Saint-Boniface;
• creating new advancement opportunities for early-childhood care and education professionals;
• promoting broad understanding of the crucial role played by quality early-childhood care and education programs in human development, family stability, and community well being; and
• Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition for adult learners.
• The University of Winnipeg builds the leadership capacity of early-care and education leaders by drawing upon the expertise of the interdisciplinary faculty on staff at the University of Winnipeg and the resources of leaders in the wider childcare community. We prepare leaders who will advance the quality and standing of early care and education—regionally, provincially and even nationally.

This degree combines the information and methodologies of Anatomy, Anthropology, Archaeology, Biochemistry, and Biology with the techniques of the physical sciences to examine human biological systems of the past and present. It is an interdisciplinary program that is founded primarily on courses from the departments of Anthropology and Biology. As a student in this program, you will gain an understanding of comparative anatomy, cellular biology, methods in archeology, and primate evolution. You will also obtain experience in up-to-date laboratory techniques and procedures. This program offers the option of combining two exciting disciplines to create a skill set that is interesting and unique.

Applied computer science is the study of how and where computers work. It includes designing hardware and software, building database and operating systems, and programming for the internet. UWinnipeg’s program covers each of these areas, giving you an understanding of how they connect to create vast networks. In the four-year major, you’ll gain practical experience and build teamwork skills as you take on a team-based software project for a local IT company.

Applied Computer Science - Health Informatics Stream
The Health Informatics(HI) stream provides students with more focused courses in Health information needs, infrastructure, standards, and jurisdiction. This stream has been designed in close cooperation with Manitoba e-Health. The HI stream includes upper year courses to address specific needs of the Health industry, e.g., Health Care information requirements and standards, regulatory environment, clinical terminologies, standards and professional practice. The HI stream complements offerings of the ACS department, and gives students flexibility of combining all three areas of IT, Business, and Health.

Economics analyzes how societies provide for their well-being, and examines the choices and tradeoffs that are made in the face of limited resources. You’ll study the competition and cooperation that arises among individuals, private organizations, and governments in the process of allocating scarce resources for a variety of different uses. Economics also offers insight into politics, law, history, environment, and development.

One may obtain the Economics Major through the 3-Year BA, the 4-Year BA or the BA Honours degree program. Some of the courses we offer are recommended for interdisciplinary programs, and it is common for other departments in the University to require or recommend certain Economics courses. The BA in Economics is highly recommended for students planning to go into law, accounting, or business studies.
