Why study Computing Science? (Specialization program)

The BSc Specialization in Computing Science is very unique as it combines the structure of a Specialization degree with elements of customization often found in the General Science program. Nicknamed “Computing and X”, this program allows you either to study a concentrated area of computing science or to combine the study of computing science with another discipline, thus creating a very tailored degree.

Our CS department has expertise in several exciting of areas, including Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Multimedia and Computer Games, Software and Database systems, and Machine Learning and Bioinformatics. Together, we are changing how computing science is being taught.

Computing Science can also be taken as part of a BSc General or a BSc with Honors.

Why study Second Languages? (Secondary Education)

• Do you dream of becoming a language teacher? We offer instruction in several popular languages that can be taken as a major and/or minor as part of a Bachelor of Secondary Education degree. For each language major, emphasis is placed not only on basic speaking and writing skills but also on an understanding and appreciation of the history and culture of that language.
• Available language majors are Cree, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Ukrainian, or Other.*
• *It may be possible to arrange a program for a language other than those listed here, provided it is offered in the school system. Please contact the Second Languages Advisor before you apply.

Why study Mathematics and Economics? (Specialization program)

By choosing this unique program, you will not only learn the essentials of economics and the related mathematical and statistical tools, you’ll also gain a better understanding of the mathematics and statistics behind these tools. This program offers a diverse education in mathematics, finance, economics and actuarial sciences, providing an excellent background if you are interested in a finance or business-related career.

This program can also be taken as part of a BSc with Honors degree.

Paleontology is the study of the history of life as preserved in the fossil record, examining the patterns and processes of evolution and extinction.

Our Paleontology program is world-renowned, with leading researchers, extensive collections, and access to digs, bone beds, and work experience opportunities you won’t find anywhere else.

The Paleontology Specialization program concentrates on the study of fossils and ancient life forms. It is an interdisciplinary program designed to give you a strong background in paleontology, earth sciences, and biological sciences, and prepares you for graduate-level studies.

Why study Neuroscience? (Honors)

This interdisciplinary program, offered jointly by the Faculty of Science and the Neuroscience and Mental Health Institute, covers all aspects of brain function, including brain development, nerve cells and synapses, sensation and perception, learning and memory, control of movement, animal behavior, cognitive psychology, and disorders of the nervous system.

This program can only be taken as part of a BSc Honors degree.

By studying economics, you will develop analytical skills to help you evaluate the costs and benefits associated with any action. If you are applying directly from high school, you must enter into a qualifying first year of Engineering. This first-year curriculum is designed to give you a solid foundation and introduce you to the vast opportunities available. The Bachelor of Arts in Recreation Sport and Tourism (BARST) degree explores the wide world of recreation and leisure, from tourism, to fitness programs, to arts, culture and heritage programs. The BARST degree also gives you the opportunity to specialize in an area of interest: Community Development, Sport and Recreation Management, or Tourism and Natural Environments. As of January 1, 2018, the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation is now the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation. If you are applying to this faculty for Fall 2018 admission, select “Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation” on the admission application form. Once admitted, you will be a student within the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation.

Pharmacology is the study of the way in which chemical substances affect living organisms. If you are interested in studying the effects of pharmaceutical drugs, street drugs, and/or harmful chemicals in people and in society, then the Pharmacology program will be of interest to you.
