Forensic Science is the degree for the 21st century and UWindsor’s program is ahead of its time. We’ll train you to investigate and analyze evidence from crimes ranging from homicide to abuse, and from fraud to hacking. We have the latest technology — biometric scanners, laser scanners, computerized fingerprint scanning, security document scanners, and more. We supplement your classroom learning with mock crime scenes and labs and you’ll get training in scientific methodologies and crime scene investigation from a variety of professionals, including academics, police officers, lawyers and expert witnesses.

The Communication, Media, and Film and Political Science combined program allows students to study and explore a wide range of topics in both disciplines. Through political science, students will study power – who holds it, how it is exercised, how you can influence and gain access to power, and how our lives are influenced by politically important institutions and individuals. When combined with communication, media, and film, you can be at the centre of exploring the most dynamic changes in our increasingly complex media landscape as well as the broader cultural, social economic, and political implications of contemporary and emergent technologies.

Learn what makes kids tick in this three-year General program focusing on child and adolescent development. Start your program with an Introduction to Psychology course for psych majors only, where you get to work in small groups led by mentors to help you along. You can do research and community placements throughout your undergraduate years.

This program is like a buy-one-get-one-free sale on languages. You get to specialize in two languages—Spanish, Italian, or German. Class sizes are small, guaranteeing you lots of one-on-one attention. You’ll get the chance to study abroad, too, if you choose. Being multilingual is a huge asset in whatever career field you pursue.

Criminology examines criminal activity, legal issues, policing, regulation, the criminal justice system, and security as major factors in society. In our program-the most established in Ontario-you’ll learn how crimes and illegalities are defined, the enforcement and administration of laws, punishments and sanctions, and issues of law, morality and justice. A strong foundation for such careers as police services, corrections, border services and social service agencies.

The BSc General Science program is a great way to explore your interests in science. The program offers a solid foundation in two core science areas chosen from biological sciences, chemistry and biochemistry, computer science, earth and environmental sciences, mathematics, physics, and economics. There is room in the program to explore other areas of interest as well. 

Many students transfer to any of the more specialized four-year BSc Honours programs, an easy transition with appropriate course selection. Some students choose to build a solid science foundation with their three-year General Science degree, then add specialized technical lab skills with a one- or two-year college program.

Be versatile! In our history program, you will develop your research and writing skills. Lots of careers are based on that. We offer public history courses relating to how people interact with the past — think museums, documentaries, walking tours and history websites — with an emphasis on digital history, and practicums for hands-on experience.

Society today is complicated. You’ll learn how to unravel its most urgent issues in this program that is focused on research, analysis and communication — skills relevant to a wide range of fields. You can tailor your degree by picking courses that match your interests. The department is small, ensuring you’ll get lots of personal attention.

Earn a BA and a certificate in Second Language Education at the same time. Choose to learn German, Italian or Spanish, and learn to teach it, too. You will learn language acquisition methodologies, observe how professionals teach language and get the opportunity to practise teaching. You can even go on exchange. Class sizes are small, so you’ll get lots of one-on-one attention.
