This branch of microbiology is most widely studied and is of greater importance due to its linkage with medicine. It is an integration of both medicine and microbiology that deals with the study of microorganisms including bacteria, fungi, virus and parasites, which are medically important and capable of causing infectious diseases in human beings. The students entering this course will receive an in-depth understanding of pathophysiology of disease caused by these microorganisms and its implications. B.Sc. Optometry is an Undergraduate Program. Optometry is a health care profession which deals with the examination, diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases and disorders of the visual system. It is a vision care science. One can also define it as the science of eye equipment (including lenses and spectacles) which is imbued with the idea of improving the vision of the human eye and remove all kinds of obstacles of sight which an individual may experience. The program is envisaged to develop a multipurpose ophthalmic manpower at paramedical level. The training enables a student to become a competent person in providing service as an Optician, Optometrist, Refractionist and Ophthalmic Assistant to the community in urban, semi-urban and rural settings in private, semi-Governmental and Governmental sectors.

Environmental Science basically deals with the scientific study of environmental system (air, water, soil and land), the inherent or induced changes on organisms and the environmental damages incurred as a result of human interaction with the environment. It also deals with the study of technical processes involved in the protection of environment from the potentially deleterious effects of human activity and improving the environmental quality for the health and well beings of humans (Environmental Engineering). Main objective of Environmental Sciences education is to emphasize the importance of sustainable development i.e., economic development without degrading the environment. Hence, it covers the areas as environment and enterprise objectives, scope, and structure of the environment, interaction of nature, society and the enterprise, environment impact assessment, economics of pollution, prevention, environmental management standards etc.

Civil engineering, the oldest and broadest of the divisions of engineering, implements a range of public and private projects for improving society’s physical infrastructure and the environment. The civil engineer integrates scientific principles with engineering experience to plan, design, and construct networks of highways and railroads, airports, bridges and dams, environmental pollution control systems, industrial structures, water purification and distribution systems, and urban transportation systems that maintain, protect, and enhance the quality of life. Civil engineers are trained to consider the social effects as well as the physical and environmental factors that constrain the planning, design, construction, and operation of their projects. The program gives students the theoretical background, instruction in engineering application of scientific principles, and professional attitude to serve the public.
