The NZ Diploma in Sport, Recreation and Exercise is a one year full-time, or equivalent part-time, program which offers you stimulating studies and provides a pathway to a career in the wide field of recreation, sport and health. This program has close links with the Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science.

In particular, the program is designed to enable you to:

• Understand human body structure and function with emphasis on the musculo-skeletal system
• Develop knowledge and skills related to professional practice in the recreation and sport industry
• Understand the relationship between nutrition, physical activity and other personal health behaviours and health
• Develop knowledge of a range of sporting and recreational activities through practical experience and active participation
• Understand the sport and recreation industry in New Zealand
• Design and apply group exercise programs
• Assess physical performance, apply exercise techniques and design exercise for people with special needs

The program for cookery and professional chef training at EIT is full-time for two years which offers you stimulating studies and provides the opportunity to begin a career in the hospitality industry.

Formal work experience in industry is an important part of the program, providing valuable on-the-job training as well as building professional networks and experience.

This program incorporates two specialised streams to choose from:

• Patisserie: breads, pastries, desserts and cakes, includes City & Guilds Diploma in Patisserie.
• Cookery: global cuisine, modern cooking techniques, menu planning and costing, and charcuterie.

The NZ Diploma in Fashion is a one year project-based program designed for people wanting a career in fashion and to gain technical skills and knowledge required to work in the fashion design industry.

During the course you will:

• Produce digital documentation of your research and progress.
• Develop skills in fashion concept design and fashion illustration.
• Develop skills to produce and manipulate pattern blocks and toiles.
• Create fashion products to industry standards, after having prepared the specifications and planned the construction.
• Develop professional ethics and values in relation to your own creative practice.
• Produce a mini collection of clothing from concept to completion and present in a catwalk show.
• Prepare a self-development plan to determine employment options.

As a graduate you will be capable of self-managing design projects to completion by applying technical skills and processes within briefs. You will have the conceptual and practical skills that reflect current fashion design industry practices.

This one year project-based program is designed for people wanting to gain craft skills and knowledge required to work in the screen industry. On this course you produce all your own work from conception to completion.

The program has been designed to give you as much “hands-on” experience with professional camera, sound and editing equipment as practical. We primarily use state-of-the-art digital cameras for recording images then edit those images on non-linear digital editing systems, as used in the professional industry.

The Graduate Diploma in Information Technology (GradDip IT) is designed to provide you with advanced IT skills ready for immediate application in industry.

You will gain the necessary technical skills and insight so you can adapt to technological changes and meet the challenging demands of the IT world. Your new skill set will enhance your existing qualification and put you in good stead within your current or future workplace.

The GradDip IT will enable you to develop a range of professional skills, including the ability to advise and implement innovations leading to a more efficient use of resources. You will also gain an understanding of the regulatory and ethical frameworks of the IT sector.

This program is suitable for graduates who have not previously studied IT at tertiary level.

The Bachelor of Nursing (BN) is a full-time, three year program which offers you stimulating undergraduate degree level studies and provides a pathway to your professional qualification as a New Zealand registered nurse.

The BN program enables you to enter practice as a registered nurse with a sound knowledge base of nursing theory, social sciences, biological sciences, research and professional nursing practice skills. Theoretical and nursing practice experiences are balanced throughout the program.

The MIT is a Level 9 programme with a minimum of 180 or 240 credits. It enables those who have completed a Bachelors’ degree in Information Technology/Computing to achieve a postgraduate level qualification in Information Technology.

The programme can be completed in two years (240 credits) or 18 months (180 credits) full-time or up to eight years part-time, depending on your previous study and experience and specific course preferences.  It is designed to extend and deepen your knowledge and skills by building on attainment gained from undergraduate study in the computing field and to extend current information technology professionals in their career progression.

The programme builds on your existing information technology knowledge and skills through courses that research and apply that knowledge and those skills in an environment that combines project work, case studies, real-life simulations, and practical work experience.  It encourages flexibility, acknowledging the diversity of the IT environment and the diversity in student interest and needs.

The Bachelor of Computing Systems (BCS) will equip you with foundation knowledge of computer hardware, networking communications and security, data and databases, information systems and IT management, systems analysis, design, and development, and internet and mobile technologies.

Depending on the stream of courses you select, you will develop the ability to design and implement high quality IT solutions within your specialisation, and apply the professional processes necessary to achieve successful outcomes for organisations.

This qualification will prepare you to be a veterinary nursing professional, providing you with the skills, knowledge and attributes needed to help animals attain, maintain or recover optimal health and quality of life. As a graduate you will also be able to practice sustainably and engage in on-going learning in the field.

This qualification will provide you with technical veterinary nursing skills in a clinical environment as well as the ability to manage patients and clients and follow protocols in all aspects of clinical veterinary practice.

The New Zealand Diploma in Veterinary Nursing recognises competence in a wide range of skills that enable you to become a functioning part of a veterinary team in a clinic or hospital through being able to:

• Provide surgical veterinary nursing
• Provide anaesthetic veterinary nursing
• Provide medical veterinary nursing
• Perform diagnostic sampling and medical imaging
• Be innovative and reflective in practice

This qualification is designed for learners who wish to further develop their practical and conceptual skills and knowledge in arts, crafts and/or design.

The creative industries and cultural sector in Aotearoa New Zealand will benefit from graduates who can use research to inform, critique and present resolved work in simulated contexts.

As a graduate you will be able to independently select and apply a range of processes in arts, craft and/or design contexts.

As a graduate of this qualification you will be able to:
