The New Zealand Diploma in Business is a stand-alone program providing a firm understanding of business in the New Zealand environment along with the most valuable attributes that are required in the modern business era. You’ll choose from two majors: accounting and leadership and management.

In particular, the program is designed to:

• Apply a broad range of business knowledge and skills as well as specialised knowledge and skills in selected fields of business.

This qualification is designed for learners who wish to further develop their practical and conceptual skills and knowledge in arts, crafts and/or design.

The creative industries and cultural sector in Aotearoa New Zealand will benefit from graduates who can use research to inform, critique and present resolved work in simulated contexts.

As a graduate you will be able to independently select and apply a range of processes in arts, craft and/or design contexts.

As a graduate of this qualification you will be able to:

Accounting Major
Graduating with an accounting major will enable you to undertake accountancy related work in the commercial and not-for-profit sectors. With appropriate course selections you will be able to meet the provisional admission requirements Chartered Accountant (CA) with either Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) or CPA Australia. The Program Coordinator can advise you on appropriate course selections.

Management Major
Typical opportunities after graduation include the areas of: human resources; operations management; or developing your own business.You will work initially in roles such as Team Leader, Functional Manager or Management Trainee, progressing to more senior positions with experience.

Marketing Major
Typical opportunities after graduation include work as a Marketing Manager, Sales Manager, Account Manager or Product Manager and progressing to more senior positions with experience.

The Master of Nursing Science is a 180-credit program which enables registered nurses to further develop their knowledge and skills for professional practice.

As a graduate of the program you will be equipped with expanded nursing knowledge, refined skills for evidence-based practice, and enhanced clinical judgment and research skills which will enable you to deliver advanced nursing practice, nursing education and leadership.

The program for cookery and professional chef training at EIT is full-time for two years which offers you stimulating studies and provides the opportunity to begin a career in the hospitality industry.

Formal work experience in industry is an important part of the program, providing valuable on-the-job training as well as building professional networks and experience.

This program incorporates two specialised streams to choose from:

• Patisserie: breads, pastries, desserts and cakes, includes City & Guilds Diploma in Patisserie.
• Cookery: global cuisine, modern cooking techniques, menu planning and costing, and charcuterie.

The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) supports individuals to become competent social work practitioners within their communities. It enables students to apply for professional registration to be a social worker practitioner in Aotearoa/New Zealand. 

Students will develop the understanding, personal attributes, knowledge and skills needed to be competent social workers in a range of fields, some of which include, family work, health and education, child protection, drug and alcohol, family violence, working with probation and youth services.

The objective of this program is to produce graduates who:

• Are empathic, non-judgmental, respectful, resilient and self-aware; and demonstrate integrity, authenticity and professionalism.
• Take a critical, reflective approach to social work practice that includes the use of supervision, continuing professional development, on-going learning and personal wellbeing.
• Are able to promote social justice and social change, and to uphold the principles of human rights in both the Aotearoa New Zealand and global contexts.
• Are able to work collaboratively and in partnership with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds.
• Understand the significance and implications of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and integrate this understanding into social work practice.
• Work in accordance with the Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers (ANZASW) Code of Ethics and the Social Work Registration Board (SWRB) Code of Conduct.
• Have an extensive knowledge base, skills and professional attributes to work across a range of diverse social work contexts and communities.
• Are proficient in professional literacies, including academic and research literacy, information literacy, numeracy, and digital literacy.

The PGDipIT is a one year Level 8 full-time programme with a minimum of 120 credits. It enables those who have completed a computing degree to achieve a postgraduate level qualification in information technology.

Those who wish to progress from the PGDipIT to the MIT will need to complete eight courses (120 credits) at Level 8.

The programme can be completed in one year full-time or up to four years part-time, depending on your previous study and experience and specific course preferences. It can act as an entry point into the masters degree if you do not initially meet the entry requirement and need to demonstrate your ability to study at a postgraduate level. Alternatively, if you initially enrolled in the masters degree and are not in a position to complete it, you can transfer any applicable courses to the postgraduate diploma for the purposes of qualification completion.

The Bachelor of Computing Systems (BCS) will equip you with foundation knowledge of computer hardware, networking communications and security, data and databases, information systems and IT management, systems analysis, design, and development, and internet and mobile technologies.

Depending on the stream of courses you select, you will develop the ability to design and implement high quality IT solutions within your specialisation, and apply the professional processes necessary to achieve successful outcomes for organisations.
