Human resource management and employment relations involve managing relationships between people and organisations. The role of HR professionals is to shape and support organisations and their employees.

The BBus (Human Resources and Employment Relations) looks at how employees are recruited, developed and managed. It also examines the design of work so that an organisation can create value from, and add value to its employees.

During your study, you will get a thorough grounding in workplace theory and approaches, as well as practical insights into the business world.

Our lecturers are actively researching, bringing the most relevant developments in business theory and practice to your study. They also have hands-on experience and real-world knowledge of human resource management and employment relations. You’ll have the opportunity to try out your ideas for yourself through project work.

The Graduate Diploma in Business Studies is useful if you wish to keep up with professional developments in your field and are short of time. Or you may have found yourself working in a different field of business to that in which you hold a qualification.

You need to be a university graduate to enrol in this qualification. The Graduate Diploma in Business Studies enables you to study another subject without completing a second bachelor’s degree. The graduate diploma is a bridging tool to gain the equivalent of an undergraduate major in a specific area so you can go on to postgraduate study.

Specialise in Ecology for your Master of Science at Massey
Massey University has a large teaching and support staff in ecology and related disciplines, with diverse expertise. Explore the connections between living things and their environment with the Master of Science (Ecology). As a postgraduate student undertaking master’s studies you will have the opportunity to specialise in stimulating subjects ranging from:

The Graduate Diploma in Information Sciences (GradDipInfSc) is intended mainly for graduates in an unrelated area who are seeking to retrain or upskill in the information sciences.  Many of the students are studying via distance (online study) because they are working full time.

Massey is one of the few universities in New Zealand where your information sciences qualification covers all five disciplines of computer science, data science, information technology, information systems and software engineering.  Many graduates have found it really useful to complete the Graduate Diploma “with no endorsement”.  This means that you can select the courses you are most interested in from across the range of subjects.  You are strongly encouraged to select “no endorsement”.

You’ll learn a broad spectrum of skills from business management through to software development.  So you’ll emerge from your studies at Massey with a well-rounded understanding of the whole industry. You’ll gain the applied skills that you’ll need to become an excellent ICT professional.

What will I learn?
You will gain skills in:

• the analysis, design and deployment of complex information technologies
• software design and development
• the use of professional software tools, and the administrative and organisational aspects of IT
• how to work in a team in the IT environment
• topics such as computer security, internet features, user interface design and more.

Chemical and bioprocess engineering is the industrial processing of raw materials to higher value products through combinations of physical, chemical or biochemical action. These processes can be very diverse. Chemical and bioprocess engineers design, optimise and operate these processes.

Examples include:

• fermentation of sugars to alcohol
• production of pharmaceutical products
• extraction of high value compounds
• composting of organic waste
• conversion of milk solids to dairy ingredients
• conversion of wood into paper
• production of fuels from waste streams.

The Bachelor of Engineering with Honours (Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering) will equip you with core chemical engineering skills for more traditional industries (oil, gas)

Learn from, and research with, highly-skilled, researchers in horticulture. A Postgraduate Diploma in Science and Technology (Horticultural Science) is the stepping stone to a research-based qualification.

Massey University’s Postgraduate Diploma in Science and Technology (Horticultural Science) gives you the opportunity to join the pathway to in-depth research at a master's level. The qualification consists of 90 credits of taught courses and 30 credits of research.

The qualification gives you the opportunity to show your analytical thinking and high-level research capability.

The Graduate Diploma in Arts (English) will give you the equivalent of an undergraduate major in English without completing a second bachelor’s degree. The Graduate Diploma in Arts (English) is a bridging tool for graduates in other subjects to get the equivalent of a major in English. You can then apply for a postgraduate qualification in English if you wish.

The Bachelor of Communication (Communication Management) gives you insight into how organisations and communities use communication, whatever form it takes. You’ll investigate how factors such as culture, gender and technology influence our ability to connect with others.
