Massey University’s Postgraduate Diploma in Science and Technology gives you the opportunity to join the pathway to in-depth research at a master’s level. 

If you complete the qualification at a satisfactory level you may be able to proceed to the Master of Science. If so, credits you have gained through this qualification may be credited to the master’s qualification.

When you join the Bachelor of Science (Earth Science) you’ll join an area that’s solving geotechnical and environmental problems.

Massey’s Bachelor of Science (Earth Science) will take you on a journey of understanding the processes that moulded our planet. From our landscapes to our geological resources and soils, it’s a huge area to cover, leading to fascinating and varied careers.

You’ll develop an appreciation of the immensity of geological time. You’ll graduate with cutting-edge skills and the ability to predict future changes in the Earth’s surface such as natural disasters, climate change and water contamination.

Earth scientists are discovering hydrocarbon and mineral resources. They are establishing policy in resource management, environmental protection, public health, safety, and welfare.

Massey’s Master of Finance combines the study of advanced finance theory with the choice of completing the qualification either by undertaking a Research option or a Professional option.

Your study will focus on finance, but help you put this specialty into the context of other business disciplines.

This qualification has a focus on real-world learning – you can utilise our relationships with industry to draw on your own work experience. You will also learn the application of techniques in environments like our Trading and Investment Rooms – the first of their kind in New Zealand.

You will be taught by some of New Zealand's leading finance practitioners and will learn how to apply high-level in-depth research in the workplace.

The Master of Finance will also help develop your oral and written communication skills to the level expected of senior business leaders.

Politics is life, and like life, politics is a struggle. The study of politics equips you with the concepts, theories and facts necessary to make sense of that struggle. Politics is about us: how we make decisions in society and who gets what, when and how. Politics is also concerned with the conflict of ideas and values, not only at the level of the local community or the nation but also internationally. More specifically, it has to do with who governs and how and why decisions that affect all of us (such as how much students pay to study at a university) are made.

With Massey’s Postgraduate Diploma in Arts (Geography) you'll become a thoughtful and knowledgeable local and global citizen. You’ll develop important career skills in research and spatial analysis. The Graduate Diploma in Arts (History) is a bridging tool for graduates in other subjects to get the equivalent of a major in history.

With Massey's Master of Engineering, you will develop a more in-depth understanding of an area of your choice, within the field of chemical and bioprocess engineering.

The Graduate Diploma in Arts (English) will give you the equivalent of an undergraduate major in English without completing a second bachelor’s degree. The Graduate Diploma in Arts (English) is a bridging tool for graduates in other subjects to get the equivalent of a major in English. You can then apply for a postgraduate qualification in English if you wish.

Philosophy is about the development of strategies to achieve greater clarity and consistency in our thinking. It emphasises the reasons for ideas. You will learn how to understand what you read rather than just to remember it. You’ll also learn how to engage constructively in debate and to think in new ways. Pretty well everything in philosophy is open to challenge. That is what drives what we do in philosophy: we ask questions and challenge ordinary assumptions.
