Take your skills and understanding of furniture design to the next level with UCOL's Diploma in Fine Furniture.
UCOL's furniture design qualification is comprised of three qualifications. You must study these in order as follows:

• First year of study
  • Semester 1: New Zealand Certificate in Arts and Design (Furniture Design & Making)
  • Semester 2: New Zealand Certificate in Creativity (Furniture Design & Making) 
     
• Second year of study : New Zealand Diploma in Creativity (Furniture Design)

UCOL’s Bachelor of Information and Communications Technology begins with a broad foundation in essential ICT skills and technologies and progresses toward a number of specialist areas including software engineering, systems analysis, databases, web development, networks installation, and project management.

This three-year degree is industry aligned learning at its best.  It includes a final project or internship, which brings together and showcases the skills you have developed and also allows you to push the boundaries by providing innovative solutions to real-world requirements.  UCOL’s Bachelor of Information and Communications Technology graduates are uniquely qualified, highly skilled, and have strong industry experience.

UCOL's new Bachelor of Social Services will provide you with specialist knowledge and skills to gain employment in a variety of areas such as community/social services worker, disability support advocate/worker, mental health advocate/support worker, navigator or case manager.

Working with people is a core component of this program and this course will give you an understanding of how social and community dynamics can impact on individuals, families and groups of people. The program will provide you with learning opportunities that include face to face, simulation/role play, group work and work experience. At the end of the program you will have the confidence to work in the community to create change.

With practical industry experience built into this three-year program, as well as workplace assignments and case studies, UCOL's Bachelor of Applied Management students are well prepared for a career in business and management.

The concept of applied management is core to the degree, where students apply knowledge, skills and capabilities in a variety of ways and contexts.

The Diploma in Architectural Technology is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to work as an architectural technician. You will gain competency to work on large and complex building projects under the supervision of an experienced architectural technician, designer, or architect.

This qualification provides employers and consumers with the confidence that the working drawings you produce will meet New Zealand legislation requirements, Codes of Practice, and New Zealand and Australian Standards.

If you are passionate about using exercise to bring about positive change in the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities, UCOL's Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise and Wellness) will provide you with specialist knowledge and skills to enable you to have a direct impact on:

• Strength and conditioning for high-performance and aspiring athletes; 
• Organising physical activity participation for community members and groups.

You'll progressively gain competencies and confidence to identify, plan, implement, evaluate and report on the impact of structured physical-activity opportunities and services delivered to clientele within your community.

Strength and Conditioning

Advanced Strength and Conditioning

Learn how to conduct and apply advanced assessment and intervention techniques to competitive athletes. Your studies also include planning a testing session for a group of competitive athletes (including risk management) and the application of sports strapping.

Applied Professional Practice: Strength and Conditioning 

Immerse yourself in structured industry environments so that you can independently apply and develop your knowledge and practical skill set in delivering structured training programmes to athletes. Your studies also include conducting a pilot research project and reporting on the effectiveness of your interventions on performance-related parameters.

Gain advanced knowledge and skills for assessment and intervention strategies to manage a range of musculoskeletal conditions and prevalent diseases evident in modern-day lifestyles. Your studies will include:

• Pathophysiology of common cardiovascular, pulmonary, metabolic, musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and mental health conditions/disorders
• Role of exercise in wellbeing
• Health appraisal, ethics and patient confidentiality

• Contra-indicators, symptom limits and the exercise guidelines for people with special considerations

  Applied Professional Practice: Physical Health and Wellness
  
  Immerse yourself in structured industry environments so that you can independently apply and develop your knowledge and practical skill set in delivering safe and effective clinical training programmes to clients. Your studies also include conducting a pilot research project and reporting on the effectiveness of your interventions on health-related parameters.

As a graduate of this diploma, you will be able to work with supervision in entry-level positions in science and technology-related fields including manufacturing and regulatory industries, field work, research and development.

Once qualified, you have the opportunity to become involved in laboratory work and routine operation in a variety of settings.

Learn the skills to work in a range of early childhood contexts, working professionally and collaboratively to provide education and care of infants, toddlers, and young children with UCOL's New Zealand Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.

The Diploma has been developed in partnership with Iwi to ensure inclusion of local culturally competent practices that include history, stories and knowledge that can be shared confidently with tamariki in and early childhood setting.

The NZ Diploma in IT Technical Support provides fundamental skills across a broad range of core ICT areas including: business information systems, computer hardware, networking and security, system support and troubleshooting, programming, web and database technologies, and systems analysis.

This program has a practical, hands-on focus which enables students to demonstrate their IT and technical support skills and develop frontline support expertise in one of the world’s largest and fastest growing industries.
