Because some of our module content is delivered online, you'll have time to either continue working in the field of sport and exercise science or take advantage of the internships and industry connections we have to increase your skills while you study. Through your studies, using expert academic advice and the university student facing support, you’ll have the opportunity to shape your career and also begin to understand the professional accreditations that are open to you from industry bodies such as the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES).

Our course will teach you the principles of forensic science, from crime scene to court room. Based in our £45m Science Centre in Cambridge, you’ll analyse and investigate a range of evidence in crime scene rooms and the forensic lab.

With a focus on chemical and biological analysis, you’ll find out what that evidence means. We look at ways to ‘read’ data, interpret the results and present your evidence in court.

You’ll get hands-on with specialist analytical equipment, under the guidance of expert tutors. And you’ll learn outside the classroom too, with visits to law courts and a local mortuary, and opportunities to work with local police forces and forensic labs.

Graduate with advanced skills in chemistry, biology and laboratory analysis – ready to start a career as a forensic scientist.As a forensic scientist you'll provide evidence for use in courts of law to support criminal and civil investigations.

On this course you’ll learn through practice, in our Early Childhood Resource and Research Room and through our optional placement and theoretical modules. Placements are optional and individually tailored to enable you to gain experience in a variety of different types of settings.

Whether you decide to go on placement or not, you’ll have access to additional volunteering and work experience as well as the choice to take part in further professional development training opportunities, enrichment trips, research groups and various early childhood and education events.

On each module of this Masters course you’ll propose and develop a project guided by our leading team of tutors—all practitioners with a wide range of specialisms. Teaching is primarily through one-to-one and group tutorials, seminars, workshops and studio critiques, in which you will learn about relevant theories, contexts and practices. As the course progresses, you are increasingly encouraged and expected to develop your work and research independently so that you’re prepared to enter the role of a freelance illustrator upon graduation.

You’ll work in our dedicated illustration studios overlooking the Ruskin Gallery, with access to a fully equipped printmaking studio, other specialist facilities, and open access life-drawing sessions. Expand your knowledge in all areas of forensic science, from gathering evidence at the crime scene itself, right through to the courtroom. Develop your skills and knowledge on our accredited course, as you collect and analyse evidence, equipping you to become a confident and effective practitioner.

In-keeping with its industry-focus our Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences accredited course is taught by experienced forensics practitioners. We’ll immerse you in a practical environment that closely emulates a real forensics laboratory. The analytical skills and expertise you gain apply equally well in the broader scientific and technological fields as they do in forensics.

Our course combines practical skills with high-level theoretical knowledge of the wide range of forensic techniques you need to apply at all stages of an investigation. Going further still, you’ll be trained to design and execute your own research project in a relevant area, which particularly interests you. This will include guidance on research methods, good practice, presentation and the application of your research.

Our course is delivered through a blend of online learning and residential sessions to give you a flexible, practical and career-enhancing learning experience. As a guide, we suggest you plan for five to seven hours of online study per week when you're not attending a residential.

As well as completing an undergraduate major project, you'll learn about:

• Advances in adult audiology.

You'll study using our Learning management system, CANVAS, and there are also seven three-or-four-day residential weeks between September and April. (For part-time students, these sessions will be spread over two academic years.) You will attend both class and lab-based taught sessions with fellow students, and engage in student-led discussions and practical assignments.

We'll confirm the dates of residential sessions as soon as we can, so that you can plan around your work and book your accommodation in advance.
Please note that this course doesn't currently provide a direct route to the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists (RCCP). However, you can pursue an alternative pathway to registration after qualification.
