On this degree you will explore the most recent ideas, issues and debates in Criminology and Sociology such as the media, its moral panics and promotion of fear; sex, violence and the profiling of such offenders; deviant behaviour; youth offending; war and terror and genocide, giving you a specialist perspective on crime and society.

You can tailor your BA (Hons) Criminology and Sociology degree to your interests and career goals through a wide choice of optional modules. Our Masters degree is the longest established MA Music Therapy course in the UK, and is taught at the internationally renowned Cambridge Institute for Music Therapy Research. We earned the Queen's Anniversary Prize in 2021 for our music therapy research, receiving particular recognition for our focus on the wellbeing of people living with dementia.

Our planet urgently needs well-trained wildlife conservationists to find solutions to the problems of biodiversity loss.If you’re passionate about wildlife and planning a career in conservation, this Masters degree will equip you with the applied skills you need.You’ll focus on the sustainable management of wildlife and habitats and learn how to analyse and interpret data in the interests of conservation.Our MSc Applied Wildlife Conservation has been developed with international environmental organisations, so you can be sure your skills and knowledge will be valued by employers.

Our BA (Hons) Film and Media degree will introduce you to the key issues debates in film and media from feminism and postmodernism to the impact of film, TV, music and the media on society, including politics, youth culture and technology..

You’ll also create your own short films in video, animation or 16mm format. Working in our professional TV and film studios, you’ll be trained in all aspects of the craft, including camera operation, sound recording and editing. You’ll also be able to focus on particular areas of interest, including digital publishing (building apps), radio production, screenwriting and computer coding.

As a Film and Media student at ARU, you’ll learn the language of film from the perspective of a film-maker, and use this to inform your own short films. In your final year, your moving image work is screened at the Cambridge Arts Picturehouse. The best films will also be selected for showing at the annual Cambridge Film Festival.

Immerse yourself in our specialist printmaking workshop at Cambridge School of Art, where our facilities enable you to engage with the histories of information and technological media, fine-art, craft and mechanical reproduction, as well as new digital and mixed-media approaches to ideas of reproducibility and the mediated image, within the expanded field of print.

On our MA Printmaking course, you will explore and embrace new ways of thinking and making within a fine-art, multi-disciplinary, experimental andcritically informed environment, supported by experienced print and fine art practitioners.By recognising its traditions and also adopting a forward-thinking approach to what printmaking can be in the 21st century and beyond, you will be encouraged to take risks, to challenge and question existing conventions of print, and to consider its critical and contemporary contexts.

This Masters degree is an ideal course for print-based artists looking to extend their practice and for those less experienced to creatively explore a more print-specific language and approach to art practice.

Teaching is primarily through one-to-one and group tutorials, seminars, workshops and studio critiques, in which you will learn about recent theories, contexts and practices. With access to the print and fine art studios, you are also encouraged and expected to develop your work and research independently.

Technical demonstrations and refresher sessions are offered in both traditional and emerging processes, including relief and intaglio printing, screenprint, plate lithography, photo-based and digital media. You are encouraged to experiment with these in your creative work, supported by staff who are experienced artists working across disciplines.

As an MA Printmaking student, you will benefit from links we have with external arts organisations, such as Curwen Print Study, galleries and exhibition spaces, both in Cambridge and further afield. London is only a short train journey away, and our connections with the MA Printmaking course at Camberwell College of Art will give you opportunities for critical exchange and to network with fellow MA students. We also encourage you to visit relevant exhibitions and events and to submit work to open exhibitions and prestigious competitions and prizes. In 2021/2022, we will be offering a new Printmaking Bursary across CSA for students working in print, supported by Curwen Print Study.

Our BA (Hons) Fashion Design degree will help you forge an identity as a designer, specialising in menswear or womenswear.

You’ll be hands-on from day one, creating your own fashion designs and engaging with all aspects of the design process in our studios, including pattern cutting, draping, textiles and digital media.

You’ll also learn about contemporary fashion promotion, including marketing, styling, fashion photography and art direction – and create campaigns to attract consumers and influencers to your brand. Alongside this you'll learn about the ethics of the fashion industry, and consider issues of sustainability that will help you to develop as a responsible industry professional.

You’ll work closely with students from across our creative community, including fashion students in other years, photographers and filmmakers to create eye-catching campaigns and digital content. Perhaps most importantly, you’ll get time, guidance and support from our team, including technical staff and course leader Mark Hart, who's worked with brands such as Chloe, Alexander McQueen, Warner Bros Records, and London Records.

As a BA (Hons) Fashion Design student at ARU, you’ll have the chance to find placements and internships with high-profile fashion houses and contemporary designers, including Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Mary Katrantzou, Marcus Lupfer and Mother of Pearl. You can also take an optional placement year.

We also attend trade fairs, such as Pure in London – the UK’s leading fashion buying event – or the fabric and trend show Premiere Vision in Paris; and visit suppliers and other businesses connected to the fashion industry.

By the end of the course, you too will have a new collection ready to show to the fashion industry at Graduate Fashion Week, and to the public at our own Graduate Fashion Show and Degree Show.
