Our Accounting and Finance degree course will set you up with all the theoretical and practical knowledge you need to work in finance or as an accountant once you graduate from ARU.

Caring for acutely ill adults is a demanding and important role, and we’ll help you develop the skills and expertise to practise effectively and compassionately. You’ll learn how to provide specialist clinical care while at the same time transforming your existing qualification/s into a BSc (Hons) degree.

Choose to study in Cambridge, Chelmsford or Peterborough, alongside other students with a particular interest in this area. It’s a great opportunity to learn from each other. Together, you’ll explore and apply the current policies, laws and procedures that affect the care of acutely ill adults. You’ll deepen your leadership skills, improve your decision-making, and increase your ability to support and develop others in their work. You’ll also develop your ability to work closely with professionals from other disciplines.

When it comes to work placements, you’ll need to be already employed in a suitable acute-care environment. Your manager should agree to offer supervision and mentorship so that your practice can be fully assessed.

On this course you’ll study the practical and theoretical aspects of modern politics and international relations, and thereby gain insights into our past, present and future on both a local and global scale. You’ll examine relevant political debates from a historical, philosophical and sociological perspective. In doing so, we‘ll go beyond the ‘high politics’ of traditional theories and the workings of parliaments. Instead, you’ll be able to develop your own specialisms in areas such as global diplomacy, international relations, and international issues like climate change; protest movements like Black Lives Matter; the devolution of power away from central government; the politics of the new media; the politics of gender, and the place of race in modern society.

Our specialist modules such as Race, Racism and Cultural Identity, Wrestling with Trump: the WWE and Modern Political Culture, and Politics and Social Media will allow you to engage with contemporary issues, developing a deeper understanding of modern politics.

As a BA (Hons) Politics student at ARU, you’ll learn from expert tutors including historians, sociologists, criminologists and political scientists.

Together, we’ll explore the latest theories, debates and research; examine domestic, European and international themes in politics, and consider the practical implications of political decision-making and policies.

All our Politics students have the opportunity to study in the USA or Canada for a semester, and can apply for funding to help cover the cost. You could also take an optional placement year.

Once you’ve graduated, you might start a career in analysis, journalism or local or international politics, or you could continue to develop your skills with one of our full-time and part-time Masters degrees including our MA International Relations.

Modern midwives do much more than assist with birth. They work closely with other healthcare professionals to support women throughout pregnancy and childbirth.

We’ll help you develop into a competent midwife who’s able to work as a team member or leader. Your time will be divided equally between classroom study and supervised placements.

By studying Business with Economics at ARU, you’ll be looking at the ‘bigger picture’. Together, we’ll explore accounting and mathematics, statistics and econometrics, micro- and macroeconomics. But we’ll also study business more broadly, covering topics such as project management, sustainability, the EU economy and international trade.

As the course progresses, you’ll establish areas of interest that you can develop in your final project. You’ll understand how economics and business, put together, influence organisations’ behaviour and performance – and ultimately impact on all our lives.

Learn both film theory and film-making practice by studying a full-time BA (Hons) Film degree at ARU.

As a student at ARU, you’ll discover the history of global cinema from the avant-garde to Hollywood blockbusters. As well as learning the fundamental theories of film and how it reflects and affects society, you’ll explore the language of film from the perspective of a filmmaker and start to think critically about your creative work.

This will be key in the practical side of the course: making your own explorative short films in video, animation or 16mm format. You’ll be trained in all aspects of the craft, including camera operation, sound recording and editing.

As the course progresses, our optional modules allow you to further explore your interests or specialise for a particular career, with subjects such as screenwriting and film journalism.

Develop your skills in major areas of biomedical science, including molecular cell biology, biomedical genetics and specialised topics in medical diagnostics. You'll focus on rapidly-evolving research into the applications of bioscience in healthcare whilst working in our impressive Cambridge Science Centre laboratories.

Throughout our course you'll develop advanced knowledge and skills in the diverse areas of applied bioscience, emphasising on medical applications You'll also develop a comprehensive understanding of advanced analytical techniques. Upon completion of your Masters, you'll be able to confidently design, execute and critically analyse both independent and group based scientific research in an appropriate area of applied bioscience.

You'll be immersed in an environment that mirrors a modern laboratory setting and benefit from the expertise of our Biomedical Science team and their intimate knowledge and collaborations within the field of bioscience.

The state-of-the art facilities in our new Science Centre include specialist tissue culture and microbiology laboratories, as well as general teaching and research labs. We have a wide range of specialist laboratory equipment which you will use in practicals and your projects. We maintain strong links to a number of hospitals within the NHS, and related industries within the East of England.

Our course is suitable for those who wish to specialise in the current medical applications of bioscience such as molecular and cell biology as a progression from a relevant first degree, as well as students with a strong background in ‘traditional’ analytical science (chemistry or biology).

Study Philosophy and English literature together and learn to make your point of view stand out with substance, as well as style.

You’ll consider big questions such as ‘Who are we?’, ‘What can we know?’, and ‘What should we do to lead worthwhile lives?’ and discover how great minds have tried to answer them.

Alongside this, you’ll explore how English literature is shaped by its historical and cultural context, and how, in turn, it influences readers and society. In doing this, you’ll also explore other subjects such as history, politics, religion, psychology and history of art.

Location is everything. Our Law School is based in the heart of Cambridge’s legal quarter, halfway between the Crown Court and the County Court. You’ll have access to Cambridge’s Squire Law Library, and the chance to practice your law skills and help members of the public by volunteering at our Law Clinic.Our small seminar groups will give you opportunities to really engage with the course material, share your interests and goals, and form close friendships with your fellow students.

You’ll receive support and advice from our dedicated, expert staff, all of whom are distinguished in the field of international law with experience working in, researching, and writing about the subject.

Explore professional writing techniques and learn to write compelling narratives whether you want to write poetry, drama, short fiction, news, features, or something else. You’ll also find out how English literature is shaped by its historical and cultural context, and how, in turn, it influences individual readers and the whole of society. You’ll also learn about many other subjects, including history, politics, religion, psychology and history of art, which will enrich your writing. Your deeper understanding of literary texts will improve your abilities as a writer.

You can tailor your Writing and English Literature degree to your ideal career with our wide range of optional modules, including work-based modules in Years 2 and 3. We’ll support you to find work placements relevant to your chosen career. You can also take an optional placement year.
