This undergraduate programme offers each music student a course that develops musical knowledge, understanding, creativity and the rigorous musicianship skills needed to be an effective and employable musician in the twenty-first century. You will be encouraged to develop your musicianship in a practical and theoretical way, giving you an excellent preparation for a range of musical careers and a springboard to further study.

It is flexible, part-time, wholly online masters degree and is designed for busy professionals. You may already have some credits (e.g. from a PGCE or a CPD course) which you may be able to use towards the MA, subject to certain conditions.

There are five modules, designed to be flexible and allow you to interpret the assignments in ways that will adapt to your current professional role and enable you to articulate your personal learning agenda. Module leaders will help you to use the academic literature to formulate key research questions to guide your work, extend your thinking and encourage reflection on your professional context.

Throughout your studies you will be questioning taken-for-granted assumptions about evidence-based practice, exploring the implications for alternatives and sharing the results of your research in order to influence professional practice. All of our MA students are professional educators working in a variety of UK and international settings, including teachers, senior leaders and others from schools, as well as drama practitioners, arts educators, social workers, FE Lecturers and work-based trainers. The essential criterion is that your work involves educational intervention and assessment in broad terms. By drawing on your practice throughout the course, you have the chance to understand and improve education in your own work setting.

This course will provide you with academic knowledge, practical skills and professional experience in preparation for a future in English language teaching, media or publishing sector. It will provide the tools and resources for you to reflect upon your professional practice, conduct your own research or continue with further studies in the field of linguistics.

This course has modules relating to the use of English language and teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL) , which will help you to become qualified with a specialist subject expertise in English language and an internationally recognised teaching qualification.
Completion of the course gives you a qualification that will allow you to apply for positions as an English Language teacher both in the UK and abroad. However, you will also benefit from a thorough exploration of English language, developing skills in critical thinking, written and spoken communication skills, and teaching practice.

You will be taught by staff with many years of experience in the field of English language, English language teaching and teacher training. In addition, there are opportunities to teach English throughout your study to gain authentic experience of teaching learners of English.

Through studying Psychology at BGU you’ll gain an in-depth understanding of the scientific nature of the subject and of its wider cultural and social impact. The BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies is a three-year undergraduate programme which introduces students to aspects of education, health and social care, with a specific focus on children from 0 – 8 years of age.The course offers graduates a range of employability opportunities with module content supporting students in developing a wide range of transferable skills, as well as providing a curriculum which enables students to develop their academic skills. Students who graduate from the programme will be awarded a full and relevant degree enhancing employability by enabling them to seek roles in early childhood settings as part of the adult: child ratio.

During the study of Sport at BGU you will gain understanding in the complexities of this subject, including; the development of sport; how performance can be enhanced and how it can be managed and led. We’ll help you to develop a detailed knowledge and deep conceptual understanding of a range of mathematical topics including complex numbers, matrices, algebraic techniques, algorithmic methods, probability and calculus. You’ll also learn how to apply your work to practical situations, using appropriate mathematical tools and technology to aid with real-life problem-solving.

Our dynamic Sports courses are designed around three specific areas - Physical Education, Sports Coaching and Sports Development. As your course progresses you can choose to specialise in a particular area, giving you as much freedom as possible to explore your personal interests.

We want students who ask questions and discuss ideas so that you develop confidence in solving problems and thinking mathematically. We encourage you to understand and enjoy mathematics rather than memorise rules and procedures. We teach mathematics mainly through group workshops and offer a learning experience that is very different from larger universities.

The SENDI programme is carefully structured to guide you as you develop as an individual student, from broad themes in your first year to more specialised topics in later years. You will have the opportunity to examine legislation and contrast it with the reality of what is provided in educational settings, developing skills in critical analysis of current issues, and looking at how those issues impact on the individual and their learning environment. In addition, you’ll become equipped with the confidence and competence to make a difference to your own life and the lives of others.

If you don’t have, or don’t think you will attain the normal tariff points for studying at BGU, this course will enable you to study for a degree without any UCAS points. The course is delivered over four years and includes a Foundation Year, which gives you a perfect introduction in what it means to be a university student, equipping you with the necessary skills and knowledge for effective undergraduate study. In addition, during your Foundation Year, you will study eight modules, all of which are designed to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to progress your studies in your chosen subjects.
