This course offers a different type of Theology and Ethics – we like to think of it as Theology ‘with its sleeves rolled up’. Get ready to look at recent trends in theology alongside the implications of scientific discovery, exploring religious debate together with arguments for atheism and for the existence of God. You won’t stop studying world religions, however. You’ll also explore other key events and issues related to terrorism, race, gender and sexuality. Here at BGU, we have many years’ experience in teaching Religious Studies, Philosophy and Theology. We designed this degree to bring the oldest of academic subjects firmly into the present day – combining the richness of ancient tradition with the relevance and freshness of a 21st-century subject.

The BA (Hons) Business programme provides a thorough grounding in a range of business subjects including marketing, finance, management, entrepreneurship and leadership, the chance to work with a wide variety of organisations through our links with industry and the opportunity to develop projects and expertise in areas that you are interested in.

This programme equips you for both employment and self-employment and gives you the confidence to succeed in the business world. Modules are contemporary in nature and tackle key issues facing organisations and society head on.

Modules are taught and assessed using a variety of active learning techniques where you are encouraged to take charge of your own learning through engaging with academic knowledge and research, tutors, external organisations, and your peers. Your assignments are developed in conjunction with industry experts and throughout the duration of your programme you will be given live briefs to fulfil for your clients. You will have the opportunity to undertake a work placement and an international field trip (that you will be required to self-fund) in the second year of the programme.

This programme is best suited to individuals with a ‘can do’ attitude who want to go the extra mile to develop their business and professional skills throughout the duration of their studies.

Our course has been developed in consultation with Health and Social Care services, thus ensuring relevance to provision within the community and meeting employers’ expectations.

In recent years, the context of health and social care delivery has been a constant talking point across public and political agenda, and was a key feature in the manifestos of all political parties in the recent UK election due to the concerns that systems are overwhelmed by unprecedented demand (Oliver, et al, 2014). The UK population of over 75’s is projected to more than double in size in the next 20 years, with over 22% of our population already over 65.

All sectors within health and social care provision require both high quality initial education and training alongside sustained and consistent updates (i.e. Continuous Professional Development (CPD)) both informally and formally, through creditable programmes of learning and education.This BSc provides an entry point into a number of career paths in the Health and Social Care sectors. It is designed to allow students to pursue and apply knowledge and understanding of health and social care following a systematic approach to evidence based practice. Applied research is embedded throughout, supported by objective observation and critical analysis.

The English team are all research-active lecturers who are passionate about the study of literature and its positive impact on the individual and wider society. You’ll be encouraged to increase your understanding of competing for political agendas in relation to inclusion, and you’ll study hidden inequalities in depth. The areas you study will be dynamic, with current, contemporary themes which change and develop from year to year. Throughout the course, you will complete a number of modules which take a more thematic approach where you’ll explore critical issues such as Inclusion, Equality and Entitlement. During your final year, you will explore wider issues of inclusion including policy and leadership.

During the study of Sport at BGU you will gain understanding in the complexities of this subject, including; the development of sport; how performance can be enhanced and how it can be managed and led. This course is designed to develop your knowledge and understanding of the sport, physical education, learning and teaching and education.
Our dynamic Sports courses are designed around three specific areas - Physical Education, Sports Coaching and Sports Development. As your course progresses you can choose to specialise in a particular area, giving you as much freedom as possible to explore your personal interests.

History is essential in understanding what the past means for us in the twenty-first century. Here at BGU, you won’t just study history through documents, you’ll learn through placements, site visits and the archives and museums that the ancient city of Lincoln has to offer. Discover the ages in a dynamic and exciting way; through words, images, buildings and artefacts.

Throughout the course, you will discover a number of the modules which take a more thematic approach where you may explore critical issues such as community and public history, local history or war and commemoration. During your final year, with advice and guidance from academic staff, you will also choose to focus on a topic, period or theme that is of particular interest to you. This allows you to tailor the course to your own interests and particular career aspirations.

Mathematics at BGU will not only develop your mathematical and practical skills and your understanding of teaching, learning and education; it will also allow you to share your enthusiasm to inspire others. With the support of dedicated and professional staff, you will study numerous aspects of both pure and applied mathematics and, in doing so, gain a good overall appreciation for the subject. We’ll help you to develop a detailed knowledge and deep conceptual understanding of a range of mathematical topics including complex numbers, matrices, algebraic techniques, algorithmic methods, probability and calculus.
