This undergraduate programme offers each music student a course that develops musical knowledge, understanding, creativity and the rigorous musicianship skills needed to be an effective and employable musician in the twenty-first century. Throughout the course, you will discover a number of the modules which take a more thematic approach where you may explore critical issues such as community and public history, local history or war and commemoration. On this course, you will explore a range of fascinating topics spanning a number of historical eras, in a wide variety of local, national and global contexts. You’ll analyse data, construct arguments and engage in real historical research, along with looking at how history is encountered within the community. You'll also take a work-based placement at an archive, museum or other historic sites.

A key feature of Education Studies is a focus on you as a developing practitioner. A number of core modules each year incorporate placements in schools or other education-related settings and carefully structured placement tasks will ensure that you gain valuable first-hand practical experience.

During the study of Sport at BGU you will gain understanding in the complexities of this subject, including; the development of sport; how performance can be enhanced and how it can be managed and led. This course is designed to develop your knowledge and understanding of the sport, physical education, learning and teaching and education.

The BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies is a three-year undergraduate programme which introduces students to aspects of education, health and social care, with a specific focus on children from 0 – 8 years of age.

The course offers graduates a range of employability opportunities with module content supporting students in developing a wide range of transferable skills, as well as providing a curriculum which enables students to develop their academic skills.

Students who graduate from the programme will be awarded a full and relevant degree enhancing employability by enabling them to seek roles in early childhood settings as part of the adult: child ratio. Furthermore, students may also choose to work towards an award which embeds graduate practitioner competencies into their study.

The structure of the programme will enable you to combine theory with practice, identifying the link between the two. Through a combination of theoretical and practical explorations, you will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of creative practices and develop your own capacity as a contemporary practitioner and critical thinker.

The ultimate goal of the programme is not to train actors, however, a substantial amount of acting is part of the programme at all levels, and a Level 4 module, Acting Skills, which focuses on Stanislavski’s acting techniques, is meant to lay a firm foundation for this. And because we believe that there is more into drama than acting, you will acquire a variety of skills – intellectual, practical and transferable skills – that can prepare you for the life after your programme at BGU. You will have the opportunity to take part in productions throughout your time, which will enrich and enhance your experience at BGU. By the end of the course, you’ll leave us equipped with a wide range of transferable skills, which can be taken to a broad set of public, private, commercial and third-sector settings.

Modules cover the broad spectrum to focus upon specific and more complex needs. You will challenge your own beliefs and values, as well as those of others, and become an advocate for change.You’ll be encouraged to increase your understanding of competing for political agendas in relation to inclusion, and you’ll study hidden inequalities in depth. The areas you study will be dynamic, with current, contemporary themes which change and develop from year to year. Our counselling course will offer you the opportunity to learn about a wealth of topics, such as self awareness, diversity, mental wellbeing and supporting clients facing a range of difficulties and issues. You are likely to explore different Counselling approaches, including psychodynamic, humanistic, cognitive Behavioural therapy and mindfulness.

Students will study and learn practical counselling skills in integrated counselling, including elements of humanistic, psychodynamic and Cognitive behavioural approaches.
