Exploring primarily modern and contemporary history, our course is diverse, international in focus and innovative. Reflecting the globalised world we live in, the curriculum covers a wide range of European and non-European histories and explores topics such as colonialism, decolonisation, immigration, ethnic minorities and gender.

You will learn fundamental skills and knowledge by studying core modules such as Engineering Mathematics, Mechanical Principles and Machines and Mechanisms. You will be able to take optional modules such as Design for 3D Printing, Bioengineering and Emerging Materials and Processes to tailor the course to your interests. Modules such as Product Design, Project Management and Engineering Business Environment equip you with the professional skills you need to work in industry.

The course will enable you to develop skills in the analysis of international financial markets and institutions, and provide you with a conceptual and theoretical grounding in current concepts and techniques in bank financial management, portfolio management, financial econometrics, business analytics and associated areas.

You will also be introduced to a range of empirical techniques enabling you to analyse sectoral dynamics, the impact of innovation on performance, and the impact of regulation and policy interventions on the financial services industry. The modules you will take consider international aspects of banking and finance and you will have the option to work on an Executive Company Project or traditional dissertation during the summer. After a common core of modules that challenge you to think about politics from the local to the global, you will have the opportunity to follow one of two pathways specialising in politics or International Relations.

On the Politics pathway, you can take modules that deal with British Politics beyond Westminster, the politics of the Americas, race, identity and class in the City and the politics of sustainable futures. On the International Relations pathway, you will focus on global inequalities and development, security and peace issues and international crisis management. All students have the chance to undertake a final project on a subject of their own choice.

On this course, you will develop an advanced understanding of your design practice, and discover how emerging digital technologies can enhance your skill set, in order to take an individual and innovative approach to tackling complex industry challenges.

The MSc programme is tailored for students with BSc degrees or engineering design degrees, so that they can build on their prior technical knowledge. There are no engineering modules on the MSc, instead the broad curriculum has been designed for you to respond to the assessments by applying industrial product design and engineering design principles within concepts, final specification and design. As an MSc graduate, you will have the technical engineering design expertise that will make you ideally placed for industry roles in manufacturing, product and industrial design - or to continue onto further research and development within the industry or by studying a PhD.
