This course explores the fabric of the world around us - from wallpaper and soft furnishings to transport upholstery and luxury fashion. The curriculum will give you the practical, digital and professional skills required to become a designer in the contemporary global textile market.

You can specialise in one of four areas – mixed media, print, knit or weave – and will explore the key applications of fashion, interior and lifestyle.

• Mixed media focuses on creating contemporary collections using embroidery and embellishment to build up surfaces.
• Print explores the translation of imagery onto textile surfaces with the inventive use of screen printing and dyeing processes.
• Knit and weave concentrate on developing innovative textile structures through yarn and fibres.

Employability skills are embedded into the curriculum, alongside opportunities to work on live briefs set by industry experts and take part in prestigious competitions. Health psychology is an expanding area of global employment with opportunities for graduates in hospitals, universities and community-based and local authority organisations. Designed and delivered in collaboration with researchers and practitioners within the field, this course will give you the opportunity to explore the many ways in which psychology can be applied to an understanding of health and illness and to modern healthcare systems.

You will also attend distinct interprofessional learning event for the equivalent of 2 days throughout the programme. These will focus on inter-professional relationships and interdisciplinary working in healthcare settings. All academic staff contributing to the course are research-active, have presented their research at national and international conferences and published in specialist journals including Social Science and Medicine, Psychology and Health, and Journal of Health Psychology.

You will gain industry-relevant experience in using different game engines, such as Unity3D, Unreal, CryEngine and Godot. You will develop your skills in sound engineering and cross-platform development, such as Console, Mobile, Virtual and Augmented Reality.

Emphasis is placed on gaining an advanced and applied understanding of the key aspects of international business, enabling you to converse with global business through practical application and contemporary theory.

Fashion buying requires both strong commercial understanding as well as theoretical knowledge. After looking at the roles and responsibilities of buyers – from design concept to point of sale – you’ll focus on the business side of fashion, building your knowledge of planning, branding, public relations/communications and social media platforms.

You will study computer-aided design (CAD) to ensure that your design and marketing concepts can be presented and communicated in a professional, and industry-recognised, style. You will also cover report writing, data selection, presentation and critical analysis.

The Criminology with Psychology degree examines the causes, legal framework and responses to crime, combined with the study of psychology.

Students will cover a range of material to develop a holistic appreciation of criminal justice matters. For example, whilst students will explore a range of theoretical perspectives on causes of crime and philosophical justifications of punishment, they will also develop a solid understanding of how the criminal justice system works in practice. We encourage our students to develop as critical thinkers engaging with the world around them and preparing them for life after university.

Modules such as Advertising and Promotion will teach you how to develop an integrated marketing campaign similar to those required by the industry. You will also learn how to develop communication messages and undertake digital and traditional media planning.

You will also benefit from a strong academic and theoretical background through modules such as Brand Management, which aims to equip you with an understanding of the models and frameworks necessary to develop and grow brands in a variety of organizational contexts.
