This course will help you to develop a wide knowledge of the range of business and marketing disciplines, the relationships between them and their application to practice.

Through specific modules you’ll be taught how to determine the impact of organisational, political, social, technological, cultural and ethical factors on the business and marketing environment.

On this course, you can specialise in menswear, womenswear and or fashion knitwear, and will study a range of topics including fashion illustration, innovative concept development, pattern cutting and computer-aided design (CAD) for fashion and design development - preparing you for a career in a creative multibillion-pound industry where you can benefit from countless opportunities to develop, progress and learn new skills.

You will be introduced to the academic, professional, industrial and commercial challenges of design practice. The first year provides grounding in fashion and design through practical, creative and technical classes and projects, while the second year is more focused, with emphasis on experimentation, in-depth project research and 3D development.

You will gain skills such as tailoring and fashion prediction, thanks to the major project in the third year giving you the opportunity to set your own briefs and create a final collection of work to showcase your unique vision and talent, as well as entering national and international competitions.

An ideal choice for both new graduates and finance professionals looking to progress their career, this programme is the opportunity to specialise in different areas of accounting and finance. It helps prepare full-time students for entry-level positions and provides career development opportunities for roles such as accountants, auditors, managers, business consultants and finance analysts.

You will get practical experience of accounting and finance tools, techniques, databases, and research skills. The programme leads with three core taught modules: Contemporary Issues in International Financial Reporting, Evaluation of Management Accounting, and Applied Corporate Finance. You will also undertake a Research Methods module which develops and enhances your research skills, and helps prepare you for your dissertation. In the second term, you will learn about Portfolio Management and undertake Applied Trading using the financial databases in our Trading Room, simulating the practical aspects of investment and trading.

In addition to these core areas, students can select an area of interest and specialism from a comprehensive list of elective modules. This allows you to design your own personal pathway, combining core modules with specialisms that are in line with your interests and career ambitions. Specialisms may include business analytics, governance and social responsibility, assurance and risk, and behavioural finance.

Computational Intelligence (CI) encompasses the techniques and methods used to tackle problems that traditional approaches to computing struggle to solve. The four areas of fuzzy logic, neural networks, CI optimisation and knowledge-based systems encompass much of what is considered to be computational (or artificial) intelligence. There are also opportunities to apply what you learn in areas such as robot control and games development, depending on your interests. ? 

You can choose from a number of specialist modules including natural language processing, artificial neural networks and data mining techniques, while developing your skills in our dedicated robotics laboratory, equipped with a variety of mobile robots. The applied computational intelligence?module considers knowledge-based systems, as well as the historical, philosophical and future implications of AI, and focuses on current research and applications in the area.

Accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), this programme explores human behaviour using sound scientific methodology – observation, measurement, and testing – to understand how and why people function in the way they do. Focuses on both psychology and education studies, you will also be introduced to the history of formal education in the UK and explore key contemporary issues and debates concerning social class, race and ethnicity, and social justice in education.

You will develop your programming and systems analysis know-how by studying modules such as Object-Oriented Programming and Systems Analysis and Design, while also growing a robust skillset in practical areas including E-Commerce Software and Database Systems and Design.  

In your final semester, you will work on your individual project, with the support of an academic supervisor, giving you the opportunity to produce a substantial piece of work on a topic of your choice.

You can apply even if you have no previous experience in computing, but you will need to demonstrate some aptitude for logical analysis.
