Quantity Surveying and Construction focuses on controlling and managing the costs of construction projects; you could be involved with any stage of a project, from feasibility, design and construction, through to extension, refurbishment, maintenance and even demolition.

Our course will help you gain an understanding of the technical aspects of construction over the whole life of a building or facility. You will learn to understand contracts, budgets, quantities, measurements and sustainability to achieve the best quality and value within the project’s specifications. You are likely to be involved in a range of services, from cost consultancy to contract management.

This programme will help provide you with transferable skills useful in the criminal justice sector and allied career fields. You can develop your practical experience through a wide range of volunteering opportunities in local criminal justice agencies, including HM Prison and Probation Service, youth offending services and victim support.

This is an applied course and you will learn first-hand from a team of experienced academics who have strong links with the British Society of Criminology and the British Sociological Association.

You will study a range of topics, including Crime and Punishment in Contemporary Society, Crime, Risk and Community Safety, and Young People and the Criminal Justice System. Accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), this course puts you at the forefront of specialist areas of electrical and electronic engineering and will help you master a skillset that meets industry needs. You will study a range of core topics, including Electronic Circuits and Systems and Embedded Systems, and choose from optional modules, such as Mobile Communication and Advanced Power Electronics and Applications, to tailor the course to your interests.

Whether you opt for the three-year BEng (Hons) programme or the four-year integrated master's MEng, our experienced staff will further your understanding of electrical and electronic engineering principles, and will also develop your design, research and project management skills.  

In your final year you will focus on a substantial piece of individual research or product development work targeted to your interests, giving you the opportunity to showcase your understanding and skills.

Our dedicated facilities are divided into several specialised areas each featuring experimental equipment, such as: general electronics and assembly, digital electronics and microprocessor engineering supported by state-of-the-art measurement devices and workstations, power electronics, control systems and communications engineering, and Smart Grid.
