This course is an ideal preparation for a career in public health nutrition and the food industry. You'll have the opportunity to study abroad and gain a career head start through a year's industrial placement.

This course examines food science, biochemistry, physiology, pharmacology, immunology and microbiology. You'll study contemporary topics in nutrition such as genetic modification, fortification and supplementation and nutraceuticals. You'll also look at nutrition's links to health and disease, in both developed and developing countries.

Through an independent project, you'll be able to research a subject of interest (such as public health and clinical nutrition, food science and the role of specific compounds in food).

This course focuses on the challenges and opportunities facing the concrete industry in meeting the demands of sustainability. You will examine concrete technology, sustainable construction, earthquake engineering, steel and concrete building design, fire assessment, geo-environmental engineering and construction management. You will take part in practical work, group work, case studies and presentations. Experts at leading civil engineering and construction companies contribute to the course. For your dissertation, you may choose an industry-relevant project to research.

The Dance and Drama BA (Hons) degree is designed to allow you to develop your own identities as informed dance and theatre-makers. By studying a wide variety of practices independently and with others, you will gain knowledge of the industry as a whole, and learn how your interests might fit into the bigger performing arts picture.

The aim of the User Experience Design MSc course is to equip you with the behavioural theory, design practice and technology know-how that is necessary for a career as interaction designer, usability engineer, user researcher, or head of user experience. It focuses upon the analysis, design, prototyping and evaluation of multimedia, multi-modal, and multi-platform user interfaces that are easy to use and support a great user experience.

Each taught module guides students through a UX project – to optimise an interaction, to innovate a digital lifestyle, to create a persuasive product, and to collaborate on the development of virtual reality. Each project provides opportunities to analyse, design, prototype and evaluate cutting-edge technologies, follow industry trends and apply contemporary theories. A final "capstone" project completes the student's portfolio.

This course was developed in consultation with our industry panel, which includes Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, DreamWorks and Samsung Design Europe. If you're interested in both theatre and literature, this course is ideal. It offers knowledge and experience of the world of theatre through studying drama, literature, dramatic theory and performance. It also offers a range of practical theatre skills.

Traditional subjects in English, such as Shakespeare and Victorian fiction, are balanced with the contemporary topics of gender, sexuality, multiculturalism, the avantgarde and popular performance.

The course is delivered in the dedicated drama studio and rehearsal facilities. You'll also be within easy reach of London's world-renowned theatres. Students have previously enjoyed field trips to vibrant venues such as Shakespeare's Globe.

Are you interested in theatre and performance? Are you keen to explore creative writing, such as scriptwriting, poetry, prose and fiction?

If so, this course is ideal. It combines two subjects which naturally overlap and will prepare you for a career in writing or in theatre, or for careers that combine both, such as scriptwriting.

Energising seminars and workshops will explore how writing works in the theatre industry. You'll develop texts with performers, rehearse readings and participate in full theatre productions. Practical knowledge is shared through guest masterclasses from playwrights such as Laura Wade, Roy Williams and award-winner, Winsome Pinnock.

What are the causes of earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis, hurricanes, floods and landslides? How do we plan for them, lessen their impact and handle the emergencies that can result?

This course examines the physical science of natural hazards, the social factors that can contribute to disasters, emergency planning and disaster risk reduction (DRR). You'll gain expertise in a range of practical and field techniques through "real-world" exercises.

If you have a passion for the craft of theatre, this practical course could be for you. It covers skills and methods in theatre making and performance, key approaches to interpreting performance and theatre design. You'll be taught through inspirational workshops, public performances and theatre-based lectures.

On this course, you'll explore important phases in theatre history as well as contemporary plays, devising companies, directors and other practitioners. The course culminates in a major Production Project module.

This degree can be tailored to your own interests. You'll be able to choose your modules from a wide selection, including cabaret, stand-up comedy, directing, Shakespeare, scriptwriting and theatre in the digital age

You'll benefit from teaching staff who have practical experience of working in publishing and/or creative writing industries, attend a series of masterclasses across the disciplines and work on live projects for Kingston University Press.
