Build on your existing knowledge of finance and economics with a thorough examination of international banking and investment. You will learn about banking regulations across the globe and how economic factors can affect investment growth and financial stability. You will explore theories relevant to understanding current industry practices in the UK and further afield.

You will be taught by a team of supportive tutors, and you will be able to draw on their considerable industry experience in economics and finance, which includes consultancy work with the International Monetary Fund.

Complementing the strong international dimension of this course, you could find yourself working alongside students from around the world, sharing experiences, new ideas and different ways of working.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Explore the principles of economics and how they apply to business
• Gain both a theoretical and practical understanding of the economic decisions faced by business managers

If you take a paid work placement in your third year you’ll develop and enhance your employability skills. Past students have completed placements with companies including Mercedes Benz, Price Waterhouse Cooper and high street retail banks.

As part of this course you’ll:

• Gain the skills to work with children and young people who are experiencing mental health related issues
• Develop a critical and in-depth understanding of mental health and its relationship to children, young people and families within a changing and fluid society
• Explore medical and psychological models of practice and look at child and adolescent mental health from the position of social intervention
• Learn to draw on key interventions such as social pedagogy, relationship-based practice, playwork and community work as methodologies
• Use the social model of mental health and children and family practice to contribute to and co-produce knowledge in a collaborative, practical and participatory learning environment

Discover how attempts to understand who we are must consider the impact of social and psychological influences.

As part of this course you’ll:

• Explore social psychological approaches that extend Western scientific thought
• Reconsider ideas of consciousness, mind, self and social living from a range of alternative cultural frameworks including psychoanalysis, discursive psychology and non-Western belief systems such as Buddhism and Daoism
• Gain insights into how the environment, spirituality, language and relationships shape who we are and what we become
• Develop a critical philosophy of what it means to be human

You can get involved in plenty of volunteering opportunities in several areas including mental health and disability support. We also have strong ties with local charitable and community organisations, helping you to understand issues such as domestic abuse as well as child and adolescent psychotherapy.

You’ll gain unique perspectives by looking into the important works of Sigmund Freud and Karl Marx and discuss theories gleaned from film and literature works. You’ll challenge contemporary thought on psychology, spiritualism, religion and culture, bridging the gap between the self and society.

 Placement opportunities, networking events and guest lectures from industry experts such as Disney animator Aaron Blaise and codemasters Team17 Digital and Dan Gray from UsTwoGames will enhance your awareness of the career opportunities open to you.

We are also members of industry network, Game Republic, where past students have won awards from industry judges in the Student Showcase Competition.

Final year students also have the opportunity to showcase their work in front of leading employers at the end of year degree show. You can see some of their work in the Leeds School of Arts Festival. Previous years have seen many of our students gain job offers through the showcase opportunities.

As part of this course, you’ll:

• Gain a broad overview of marketing and understand how to use your knowledge to help steer business success in a global economy
• Study the principles of core marketing theory such as pricing, place, new product development, promotion, services marketing and competitive advantage
• Develop an understanding of the planning, implementation, and measurement of social media marketing campaigns
• Explore the psychological and sociological aspects of consumer behaviour
• Learn how to manage brands and how to plan and implement effective PR campaigns
• Specialise in a marketing area of your choice for your Postgraduate Marketing Research Project

You’ll have face-to-face meetings with a research methods tutor to help establish your chosen specialist topic for the Postgraduate Marketing Research Project.

Develop skills in analysis, legal reasoning, evaluation and advocacy on this Leeds Law School qualifying law degree.

The course is recognised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board as meeting the academic requirements of your legal training, and completion will enable you to undertake further study in order to become a solicitor or barrister.

• Concentrate on four themes: performance (group and individual), composition and arrangement, technology and production, and contextual studies
• Work alongside students and staff both in the studio and at live music venues, building a portfolio that will help you achieve your professional ambitions as a musician
• Work in conjunction with students from music production in the studios as well as working in live venues
• Have access to workshops and industry professionals through our links with JAMES (Joint Audio Media Education Support) and the Music Producers Guild

You’ll have the option to gain invaluable work experience through a placement year in industry and the opportunity to work with external clients in your final year. Throughout your course you’ll be encouraged to perform externally in the many venues that Leeds has to offer. Previous students have performed at events including the Live at Leeds festival, which attracts thousands of visitors to venues across the city every year.
