You can get involved in plenty of volunteering opportunities in several areas including mental health and disability support. We also have strong ties with local charitable and community organisations, helping you to understand issues such as domestic abuse as well as child and adolescent psychotherapy.

You’ll gain unique perspectives by looking into the important works of Sigmund Freud and Karl Marx and discuss theories gleaned from film and literature works. You’ll challenge contemporary thought on psychology, spiritualism, religion and culture, bridging the gap between the self and society.

This vocational course will enable you to develop your own creative screenwriting practice and an extensive portfolio of work in preparation for a career as a screenwriter.

You will be based in the Northern Film School and will work alongside production courses and be taught via lectures, seminars, tutorials, talks, discussions and screenings. You will be supported as you work on self-directed projects and writing exercises. You will be encouraged to explore your own creative potential and test your ideas across a range of platforms including film and television, and you will develop an understanding and appreciation of the impact of new technologies on the industry.

You will be introduced to a wide range of ideas from industry which will inform and inspire your development as a writer as you gain a thorough grounding in key concepts and concerns of screenwriting for a range of screen media. This course will emphasise the creation of new ideas through provocation, stimulation and inspiration. You will be paired with a mentor for your final project which will replicate professional practice by encouraging you to develop a script in response to a client's needs.

Engage with human rights practice by linking the legal, theoretical and technical skills and knowledge needed to work for international organisations fighting injustice, oppression and persecution.You will study contemporary debates in human rights promotion and protection, researching the stories of violations, asylum, surveillance, peacekeeping and torture that are behind many of today's news headlines.

Working with your tutors and alongside industry professionals, you will develop the skills to be able to investigate claims of human rights abuses, gather evidence and build cases for legal proceedings.Your course will also hone your research and project management skills and develop your ability to write compelling funding applications and formulate budgets - essential requirements for a career in this area.

Created in collaboration with tutors from the University's Leeds Law School, your course will provide you with the expertise and practical skills to help protect human rights and tackle abuses.

Promoting and marketing sport is a growing industry. You’ll develop as a dynamic sport marketer to prepare for an exciting career in this vibrant field.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Gain insight into specific aspects of sport marketing in a changing global environment
• Discover how sport marketing contributes to the success of sports performers, teams, organisations, events and related industries
• Learn how to connect and interact with various audiences through broadcasting, branding, print and digital campaigns
• Analyse consumer behaviour

Explore criminal behaviour, policing and criminal justice, and cultivate a deeper understanding of our current responses to crime on this qualifying law degree.

The course is recognised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board as meeting the academic requirements of your legal training, and completion will enable you to undertake further study in order to become a solicitor or barrister.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Study the design and construction of new buildings as well as the repair, refurbishment and management of existing structures
• Consider the historic elements of the built environment and discover how different aspects work together
• Learn how to maintain and enhance buildings that are important to our heritage
• Gain hands-on experience during site visits to modern developments and historic projects

We have strong relationships with companies in the region and you’ll be taught by building surveyors. Visiting planners, architects, researchers and civil and structural engineers will deliver guest lectures and share up-to-date experience of their work in the field.

As a graduate, you’ll be eligible for full membership of the RICS following a period of approved professional practice. You’ll also need to complete a successful final assessment of professional competence by the RICS.

Become an effective communications practitioner with the expertise and confidence to work in an international setting. You will learn how to work with clients to produce practical communications solutions in the private, public and voluntary sectors all over the world.

The course is delivered by four European universities: Leeds Beckett University, Hanze University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, IULM in Italy and Vilnius University in Lithuania, which all specialise in professional communications and public relations.

You will choose whether to study your first or second semester at Leeds Beckett University, where you will benefit from being taught at one of the most established centres for education and research in the field of public relations in Europe. You will spend your remaining semesters at a partner university, specialising in areas of expertise specific to that university. You could also take an optional industry placement in your final semester.

Study an accredited and comprehensive business degree with the added advantage of gaining specialist knowledge of human resource management (HRM).
