As part of your course you’ll:

This course will equip you with a deep understanding of accounting and finance and their importance for organisations and businesses.

If you take a paid work placement in your third year, you’ll develop and enhance your employability skills. Our students have enjoyed placements with Disney, Morrisons and the NHS.

Our guest lecture series will help support your development. Past speakers include the CEO of the London Stock Exchange, the Chief Executive of the British Bankers Association and the Chief Economist of Yorkshire Bank.

Develop your abilities to become a highly skilled music and audio producer.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Hone your skills in the creative, technical and compositional aspects of music production
• Gain a solid academic and practical base from which to develop your craft further
• Apply your knowledge to a variety of creative and industry-focused briefs and scenarios
• Understand the professional environment and how it will inform your practice
• Learn through lectures, tutorials and seminars delivered by academic staff and industry professionals
• Have the opportunity to work with other students in production teams, further enhancing your team working and project management abilities and employability opportunities

You’ll have access to software such as Logic Pro, Cubase, Adobe Audition, MAX MSP and Synthmaker. Your specialist modules might require you to use Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Unreal and other industry standard software.

This course is accredited by JAMES (Joint Audio Media Education Support) which encourages the delivery of workshops and lectures from industry professionals. A placement option and your final year project will provide you with opportunities to work with industry partners.

Artist in Residence Programme
The Artist in Residence programme gives our students an opportunity to work with professional artists and gives them a taste of what is it like to work on a professional music project. We have welcomed artists Chris T-T, Ian Prowse, I Monster, Tom Williams and Utah Saints.

Quantity surveyors are the cost managers of the construction industry. While studying for a recognised degree, you’ll learn how quantity surveyors organise, control and manage the costing of projects, including building economics, contracts and construction law, construction technology and project management.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Undertake individual and group assessments and develop core skills
• Build analytical, arithmetic and IT abilities
• Develop as an innovative team player with the problem solving and transferable skills needed to succeed

Sandwich year
Our sandwich route includes a one year industry placement, enabling you to take advantage of the strong links we have with local authorities, commercial organisations and private quantity surveying practices - all of whom provide placement opportunities for our students.

Within the creative and media industries, small groups of people with strong individual talent often evolve into innovative companies. On this course, you will develop your own area of expertise and hone your ability to work creatively with like-minded professionals.

Option modules and the flexible nature of this course will enable you to develop a broad overview of creative technology while also specialising in an area of your choice. You might choose to investigate emerging 3D computer animation techniques, work on post-production special visual effects or explore innovative photographic visual effects technologies.

You will develop your specialist skills and knowledge of digital technology through the use of digital tools in our inspiring learning environments, which include a chroma-key and motion capture studio and a suite of high-quality professional music studios. These facilities combined with regular visiting speakers from the music and film industries and a range of links with local and national music, arts and festival organisations and also animation, games and visual effects companies, will ensure you get the most from your course.

We have excellent equipment and resources including a motion capture studio, a suite of high quality professional music studios and a highly experienced and skilled teaching team. This, combined with regular visiting speakers from the music and film industries and a range of links with local and national music, arts, and festival organisations, plus animation, games and visual effects companies, ensures that you get the most from your course.

You’ll be guided by practising writers and researchers, undertaking modules that encourage an interdisciplinary approach to understanding writing and contemporary culture.

As part of your course, you'll:

As part of your course you’ll:

• Learn from a team of experienced and professional theatre and performance makers to produce exciting work for stage, galleries and festivals
• Gain real-world professional experience through public showings and work-based learning placements
• Explore theories of theatre and performance from researchers at the top of their field
• Become confident with the processes of making, performing and analysing theatre and performance, which will help you find employment within the creative industries

You’ll be engaged in practical events in the city in theatres, galleries and more unusual sites. Our performing arts students and staff have also performed their work together at Latitude, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Light Night here in Leeds.

• Learn about the relationship between the two subjects by critically and creatively focusing on specific time periods or themes
• Analyse the key genres of prose, poetry and drama
• Explore the relationship between historical developments and genres of creative literature, including detective fiction and postcolonial literatures
• Engage critically with literary texts from a variety of historical periods, cultures, and genres, from the early modern era to the present day
• Gain an understanding of human developments, ranging from the 17th century to the 20th century

You’ll learn from tutors who are widely published and actively researching new topics, providing fresh course content that is constantly evolving.

We regularly offer cultural studies seminars where visiting lecturers present and elaborate on their own literary or historical research.

Realise your potential in contemporary music production and develop your ability to perform live.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Concentrate on four themes: performance (group and individual), composition and arrangement, technology and production, and contextual studies
• Work alongside students and staff both in the studio and at live music venues, building a portfolio that will help you achieve your professional ambitions as a musician
• Work in conjunction with students from music production in the studios as well as working in live venues
• Have access to workshops and industry professionals through our links with JAMES (Joint Audio Media Education Support) and the Music Producers Guild

You’ll have the option to gain invaluable work experience through a placement year in industry and the opportunity to work with external clients in your final year. Throughout your course you’ll be encouraged to perform externally in the many venues that Leeds has to offer. Previous students have performed at events including the Live at Leeds festival, which attracts thousands of visitors to venues across the city every year.

Your studies will start with a clear focus on local contexts. As you progress, you’ll learn the skills to address national and global issues and discover how complex contemporary society is and the impact it has on us all.

As part of your course, you'll:

• Undertake role-play with trained actors as part of your training. They’ll take on the role of vulnerable people and you'll be able to learn from their video diaries and blogs.

The social care sector is growing. It gives you employment opportunities working with children, young people and families.

You’ll be given the chance to undertake an international volunteering placement in your second and third years. Previous students have volunteered in India, South Africa, Finland and the US, working with people from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds.

You'll share modules with students from related courses. This helps you to learn about the different areas of social science. It also teaches you how specific environments and situations are handled.
