The performance nutrition industry is booming as recreational competitive sport grows increasingly popular, and there has never been a better time to specialise as a sports nutritionist.

Euromonitor report that the UK sports nutrition industry grew by 16 per cent in 2013 and annual growth of nine per cent is forecast until 2018, with product sales alone expected to reach £471 million.

Our masters degree in Sport and Exercise Nutrition was written in consultation with industry-leading experts and employers including the English Institute of Sport (EIS) to maximise the value of the degree to potential employers in elite and professional sport.

Students of the course meet the eligibility criteria for graduate registration with the Sports and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENr) - the leading professional body for performance nutritionists both in the UK and globally.

The course focuses on professional practice and is underpinned by solid scientific and technical foundations. Work placements and practical training are integrated into the course, equipping you with significant experience in a professional setting.

You will learn from some of the UK's most experienced sports nutritionists and study in our industry-standard facilities at Barnet Copthall Stadium, home of Saracens Rugby Club, where we regularly treat elite athletes and sports teams. (Access will be dependent on social distancing requirements due to Covid-19.) This means that the course runs alongside our other postgraduate sport degrees and students can work together to develop their skills as part of a multi-disciplinary team of specialists.

The course enables you to

• Become eligible to apply for graduate registration with the UK Sports and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENr).
• Develop your professional skills and practical experience in our cutting-edge sport science labs (access to specialist facilities may be restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing requirements, but alternative methods of learning will be available).

BA Digital Media and Communications

Combining theoretical knowledge and practical skills, you gain skills in areas such as new media, video production, website design, culture and more. Practice-based work includes video production (following Government safety guidelines), web design and HTML programming, data visualisation and smart environments. Great emphasis is also given to the management and analysis of social media platforms, with APIs and other sources used to present and assess social data.

BA Visual Effects

Our visual effects course gives you access to some of the best VFX facilities, studios and workshops in the country. Led by our team of experienced VFX professionals who’ve worked professionally on films including Avatar, Planet of the Apes and Happy Feet, you’ll learn the practical skills you need to succeed in the industry.

Our sociology BA teaches you essential hands-on skills while you develop the research ability and theoretical knowledge that allows you to understand the effects of social issues on society. Our sociology courses are taught within an interdisciplinary department of our School of Law, bringing you in contact with some of the leading scholars in the industry.

You will have the freedom to choose your modules and focus of study in your second and third year meaning you can tailor your degree to your individual interests and future career goals. The programme itself has a strong focus on race and "decentering" the discipline of sociology, making it ever more relevant in today's world and making intersectionality a central feature of your study and practice. You'll also have the opportunity to take on a work placement or study abroad.
Build your hands-on practical skills

The Foundation Year in Economics is taught by the same lecturing staff who teach on our degree courses and you are taught in small group seminars, workshops and lectures. You will be able to develop transferable skills in business, communication and problem-solving.

BSc Economics

You’ll develop your advanced theoretical knowledge as well as a practical understanding of all aspects of accounting and finance. Covering key areas within financial and management accounting, taxation and business law, you’ll gain a deep understanding of the role accounting plays in successful organisations.

Interior architecture is distinct from the better known field of interior design, though the two are linked. Interior architecture degrees typically focus on the adaptation and remodelling of existing buildings, bringing together the practices of interior design and architecture in one. This course incorporates a diverse range of buildings across the public, private, and commercial spheres.

We’ll encourage you to develop an individual style, independent thinking, and innovative ideas. We give all our students the skills needed to address real-world situations in an imaginative and dynamic way, preparing you for the world of work.

Our course can also be taken over four years instead of three, to include a one-year professional placement within the design industry, to be taken after your second year. You'll gain substantial professional practice and you’ll receive an Advanced Diploma Professional Practice: Interior Architecture & Design at graduation.

How you’ll develop your design skills

• During your studies, you’ll have access to our interior architecture and design studios, which are specifically designed to mirror the environment of a professional design studio. We have five studios to use by individuals and groups alike. The studios have Apple iMacs with an array of design software, a library of design and architecture books, and storage for your models.
• Our students are often involved with various, public-facing projects. In 2018, our Interior Architecture students collaborated on a project with Alexandra Palace, a historic entertainment complex in north London. In 2017, our students were challenged to create a pop-up exhibition space in King’s Cross with a brief that challenged them to consider materials, public movement, and the artistic work displayed.
• Learning also happens outside the studio and classroom. Our students go on field trips in London and abroad, where you can partake in collaborative projects with students from other universities.
• Graduates from this course gain valuable and transferable skills the creative industry is looking for. Many have gone on to work in specialist design studios and consultancies, in roles like interior designer, space planner, exhibition designer, and interior architect. It also opens doors to career paths in the environment sector, education, media, retail, and entertainment.

BA Business Management (Human Resources)

If you want to learn how businesses work and how to manage people, then this is the degree for you. You’ll learn about the theory and practice of how businesses operate and what their environments are like. You’ll also study a variety of management styles, alongside the law and practices related to managing people.

You’ll be supported by a team of tutors who have industry experience. You will be exposed to key HR practices such as hiring practices, HR law, the ethics of employment and other abilities you'll need during your career.

Covering everything from human behaviour and molecular neurobiology to psychiatric disorders and neurogenetics, our BSc Neuroscience gives you the specialist skillset to start your career.

Set in cutting-edge bioanalytical facilities our neuroscience degree will give you an opportunity to study and practice your new skills through both on campus (subject to availability in light of Covid 19) and on line learning.

Guided by our teaching staff – who are leading researchers in cognitive psychology, neuropsychology and neuroscience – you’ll explore a range of disciplines as you enhance your understanding of the function and dysfunction of the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves. You’ll also learn how to carry out a range of specialist procedures and techniques that are used for both research and diagnosis. This will be support by a range of online and on campus teaching, the latter dependent on availability as a result of the Covid 19 outbreak.

Develop your hands-on experience

• Our recently revamped bioanalytical laboratories give you access to the next generation of scientific instrumentation for molecular analysis – which is in line with the new focus on protein-hunting in scientific research. On campus experiences will be subject to ongoing and future restrictions as a result of the Covid 19 outbreak.
• With the help of our expert teaching staff, you’ll get to grips with specialist procedures such as psychophysiological monitoring, electroencephalography (EEG) and brain imaging techniques.
• By providing you a specialist skillset that applies to a variety of careers in science and non-science sectors, our neuroscience course opens up career opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry, clinical research, academia and teaching. It also gives you an ideal foundation for further study in areas such as drug development, neurone and glial cell culture, and molecular neuroscience.

Learning about computer-based systems can open a lot of different career doors. Our information technology course combines theoretical knowledge with practical experiments to prepare you for the world of work. You’ll have access to a wide range of advanced equipment and software. Our interworking labs come equipped with telecommunication equipment, high-end simulation software, and much more. We even have remote access for the features you will need.
