Product designers are the visionaries who bring people and technology together. A BA in product design will open up both creative and technological career opportunities in areas that range from industrial design and engineering to mechanical design and creative technology.

Through project-based study, you'll develop the expert skills and understanding to combine aesthetic functionality and innovative technology. You’ll spend your first year studying a combination of product design and product design engineering to get a broad understanding of the fundamentals of both practices before choosing whether to continue with the BA Product Design or move across to our BEng Product Design Engineering programme.

We’re also partnered with our design and innovation centre, redLoop, which gives you unique opportunities to work on real design and technology development projects.
• You’ll have the option to gain valuable professional experience by spending your third year in an industry work placement leading to a Diploma in Industrial Studies. Our network of creative professionals also means you’ll have access to prestigious work experience placements throughout your product design course.

You enrol on a four-year course, which includes the one-year foundation course. If you complete this year successfully you progress directly onto one of our three-year degree courses in these subject areas. The number of students who progress to degree study are very high - in fact some of these students have gone on to become some of our most successful graduates.

BA International Politics and Law

International politics has never been so relevant to our daily lives, which means that our BA in International Politics and Law will open up opportunities in all areas of this diverse and dynamic field, from public service, and international relations to regional organisations, NGOs, diplomacy, the media, and everything in between.

Today virtually every aspect of modern life depends on the integrity, reliability and efficiency of computer networks – from personal communication to the functioning of the world's economy – which is why the sector is experiencing major investment and qualified professionals are in huge demand.

• Our course is designed to equip you to deal with the ever-changing needs of the business world and ever-developing threats to security – combining both theory and intensive practical experience with a strong emphasis on professional skills.
• We make the most of our strong links with companies like Microsoft and Siemens and work hard to ensure our course remains highly relevant to the workplace. Practical work is an important part of every module, delivered online, and unless you're already in employment, we'll help you find a work placement for up to 12 weeks, during which you'll work on your independent research project.
• Our award-winning technology centre has five specialist laboratories equipped with the latest industry-standard hardware and software, including OPNET, Wireshark, MATLAB, Simulink, OpNet Modeller 17.0, OMNeT++ , National Instruments and Cisco technology such as Packet Tracer. While studying for this qualification you will work with our LTE test bed and Blade Server, and you will learn how to access and configure cloud-based networks. As part of your studies, you'll also have the opportunity to work towards a Cisco CCNA professional certification, worth £1,600 and considered the gold standard in the industry.

Our information systems degree gives you the skills, experience and expertise you need to succeed in the computer-based sector – and beyond.

You’ll get to grips with the specialist equipment, systems and technologies that will give you the experience, expertise and confidence to apply your skills (due to Covid-19, access to the specialist software may be online rather than in on-campus labs). Our degree will prepare you for career paths that range from organisational management and systems architects to chief information officers and enterprise architects.

This is an interdisciplinary course meaning the content's structured in ways that map explicitly to modern technology, including systems design, application development, client-side programming, and much more.

Build your information systems skills

• You’ll have the opportunity to take a year-long, paid work experience placement as part of a four-year study path (subject to securing an organisation that is able to support such a placement during the COVID-19 pandemic). We’ll also give you industry professionals and work experience opportunities to help you further develop your professional skills and network. In the past, our students have taken part in Sky's hackathon which tested their knowledge and team-working skills.
• We’re in the process of gaining BCS (British Computer Society) accreditation for our computer science degrees, which means you’ll be able to gain BCS membership once it’s awarded.

Covering everything from human behaviour and molecular neurobiology to psychiatric disorders and neurogenetics, our BSc Neuroscience gives you the specialist skillset to start your career.

Set in cutting-edge bioanalytical facilities our neuroscience degree will give you an opportunity to study and practice your new skills through both on campus (subject to availability in light of Covid 19) and on line learning.

Practice your hands-on skills with us
We strongly encourage you to develop your employability skills throughout the course and this is often built into the modules from the start. These skills, sometimes referred to as soft skills, include reflection, professional development and team work.

You’ll receive a Placement Planning Pack to help with structuring and planning for work experience, ensuring you get the most out of it. Additionally, you’ll undertake a practitioner-based module, set within a workplace, and build a digital portfolio that showcases the development of your knowledge and skills throughout the course. The course’s timetable is specifically arranged to give you the opportunity to arrange voluntary or paid work experience, or shorter placements. Typically, graduates go on to careers in educational settings, training programmes, and charities. It's also a route into a teaching role through a Primary or Senior PGCE.

Developed in partnership with the NHS trusts, the course will see you spend 50% of your time on placements with our partner hospitals. You’ll learn the essential nursing skills needed to take effective care of adult patients in a live environment.
