Our English with Psychology BA (Hons) combines the study of English Literature and Psychology.

Combine the broad traditional coverage of traditional English degrees with distinctive features from the liberal arts tradition, such as language comparisons and literary criticism, through your English major. Complement these studies with your Psychology minor, which helps you develop an in-depth understanding of the biological, cognitive, and psychosocial factors underlying behaviours which will be reflected in personality dynamics and, ultimately, the work of an author or poet.

The Art History with Creative Writing BA (Hons) will allow you to study the full range of artistic expression and hone your writing skills. The programme combines cultural surveys with more intense, media-specific subjects including architecture, landscape and painting. Through your Creative Writing minor, you’ll develop the tools to approach a broad range of literary forms from a creative and critical perspective, from short fiction to immersive journalism, poetry, and scriptwriting.

The course combines cultural surveys with more intense, media-specific subjects including architecture, landscape and painting. The Philosophy with Art History BA will help you bring a clarity and rigour to your thinking about topics such as morality, metaphysics, and art. Particularly of interest for you will be the third year philosophy course in Aesthetics – studying the philosophy of beauty and the philosophy of art, ranging from Plato’s claim that we should rid ourselves of all poets to Hegel and Arthur Danto’s assertion that art has ended. You will also, in your minor, study particular artistic media, such as painting, ceramics and architecture.

The central aim of the Politics & International Relations minor is to enable you to understand and analyse the relationship between the individual and the state, and the sources of state authority and forms of government.
