This three-year Contemporary and Popular Music degree focuses on a range of musics and approaches, from acoustic singer-songwriting to experimental electronic forms, and from ethnomusicology to cultural theory. While you may choose to specialise in contemporary and popular music, the beauty of music at Newcastle University is that we offer a broad musical education so you can also take modules from world, classical, and folk and traditional music. This Civil and Structural Engineering with Year in Industry MEng degree focuses on developing your specialist knowledge, practical experience and skills of structural engineering. It also provides a direct route to chartered engineer status, so you graduate prepared for your future career.

You'll develop real-world experience – both at University and while on your industry placement in Stage 3 – through our design-intensive programme, hands-on work in our specialist facilities and experience working directly in the sector.

Focusing on the design of bridges, buildings and other structures, you'll become a well-rounded engineer. You'll have an understanding of critical civil engineering topics, such as: sustainable engineering systems, and construction management.

The Bioinformatics MSc combines foundational skills in bioinformatics with specialist skills in computing programming, molecular biology and research methods.

Academic staff in media and cultural studies from the School of Arts and Cultures deliver this specialist pathway.

The pathway is suitable if you have some journalism and/or PR knowledge through your undergraduate studies or voluntary work. It is also suitable for journalists or PR professionals wishing to develop academic knowledge and research methods. The pathway draws on our research in media, communication and cultural studies.

It combines theory and practice of journalism, public relations practice, and theoretical analysis of the media. You'll develop skills and knowledge relevant to various aspects of media.
